Ira-spinta question

By Boot2daHead2, in UFS Rules Q & A

So I was just wondering the interaction between Ira-spinta and Makai High Noble when they are both cards I played/ have in my staging area. I know it's a real streach of the wording but I was wondering if it worked how I wanted it to (though i don't think it does).

Ira Spinta Says: E your opponent adds one non character card from your staging area to your momentum: add two non character cards from your opponents staging area to their momentum

Makai High noble says R: bofore your opponent destroys one of your foundations destroy this foundation instead.

My train of thought was that when your opponent destoys a foundation as part of the cost for ira-spinta you use Makai high noble to destroy itself instead then triggering its static ability. I really don't think it works this way but I figured it couldn't hurt asking a rediculous question in hopes for a rediculous answer.

But destroying should make your card go into your discard pile. That interaction would no work. Your opponent is ADDING a card from your staging area to your momentum, not destroying a card to add it to your momentum.

But isn't destroy, remove, any effect that foces a card to leave a stageing area considered the same thing? I though I read this somewhere on another ruling on the old threads but I'm not sure. I'm just curious because if it does work i'm going to use it in a deck, but if it doesn't I want to know why so I can tell other players so they and I know the reasons.

Correct - it does not work. Ira-Spinta adds the cards to the player's respective momentum; it does not "destroy" any of the cards. As such, Makai High Noble cannot be triggered in response to it, and its static ability will not be set off.

The Red Lotus of the Sun has the ability to negate any ability that would commit, destroy, or remove a card from that player's staging area; Ira-Spinta (and also Iceburg Circular, since its ability is very similar to Ira-Spinta) can be countered by Red Lotus because adding a card from the staging area to the momentum counts as "removing it from the staging area".

Commit, destroy, and remove are very different things. Thank jeebus.
