how does 'commit' work i still don't get it
question 'commit'
turn it from I to _ and abilitys that do not say playable while commited can not be activated.
so when it says 'commit' it turns ' I ' to '_' and it's ability takes place. what if it says 'commit 3 foundation' does the other 'foundation' take effect?
if it JUST says "commit: ability", the card itself commits.
If however it says "commit 1 foundation: ability" you just commit any of your [ready] foundations.
also note unless a card specifically says when this card is commited when using an ability that commits another foundation, (ie Shinobi tradition when passing checks) their ability does not trigger, unless it explicitly says otherwise.
N.J.
If u ever played magic its the same as tapping... commit = tap.
so when i 'commit' it's ability kicks in. and when it card A says 'commit: one fondation' the card 'commits' plus someother card but the other card ability doesn't kick in only card A works and the other fondation is a cost?
Just as a graphical representation.
Right now I have chinese boxing in play:
I choose to play it's second ability, so I do this:
When then allows me to take your card:
and do this to it:
Because of the effects of Chinese Boxing, you will not be able to use the card on your turn.
///
To expand...
To activate this and use it successfully, you would have to commit both it and one other foundation.
Where as:
You could commit any one of your foundations to pay the cost of this card's E.
coo i could finally play this correctly now thanx
okay i lied. the caed (beefy) While this card is committed your character get + 1 hand size.During your ready Phase you may choose to leave this card commited. Right does this card get sent to the discard pile or those it stay in the staging area after it got committed?
It stays in the staging area after it gets committed. During your Ready Phase, you can either ready this card and lose the effect or keep it committed to keep the effect active.
okay only cards that are 'commited' to use its effect are sent to the discard pile not cards 'commited' becuse of another cards requirement. what about when i 'commit' cards for a control check?
None of this has anything at all to do with the discard pile... the cards are just turning sideways
so if i have ten fondation cards and 'commit' them they just get turned sideways. if so the game fills very cultered as you get into the game.
but you will need the foundations as you want to play more and more atks in one turn, or to defend.
when i play a card can i enhance that one card with a bunch of other caeds?
Yes. Have you read the tournament rules ( new.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/UFS/Support/ufs-tournament-rules-v1_9.pdf ) or watched the demo ( new.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/UFS/Support/demo.swf )? Not trying to be rude here. Just asking.
KnightHart,
Definitely check out the Demo that Malk pointed to above. Yes, as the game goes on, you will get more cards in your staging area. Keep in mind that part of the strategy of UFS will be to manage how many cards are in your staging area, because some times playing too many foundations will A) leave you without blocks B) Cause you to exhaust your deck faster, and loose the game.
quick question you can 'commit' your character card to make a control check like a fondation?
