Poltergeist follower vs. Temple enslavement

By Hotkippp, in Talisman Rules Questions

My wife and I had a situation last night where she had the poltergeist which makes a character move 1 square per turn, she landed on the temple and was enslaved until she rolled 4,5 or 6 for her movement roll. Since she isn't rolling for movement would this mean she loses the game by being enslaved forever? It's a cheesy way to win but I don't get to win very often. Can anyone offer their opinions?

I would personally have to say no... You are simply rolling the die to see if you can move, and if you go high enough, you can... IANAL, but I would play it that the die is rolled, and if a 4,5,6 shows, you get to move one... Otherwise, as you say, game over, and that seems pretty lame...

padawanninja is correct.

You must roll a die for enslavement, and if you roll a 4,5 or 6 then you can move only 1 space due to the poltergeist.

This is covered in the current official FAQ:

Temple
Q1: If a character rolls a “5” in the Temple while he is a
Toad, does he still roll a die to break free from enslavement?

A: Yes. If he breaks free, he must then move 1 space.

This can be easily extended to the Poltergeist.

Thanks guys now I have to tell her she was right, do you know what it's like admitting to your wife she's right. I also just want to say I am glad to see that there is finally a company that wants to put an effort into this game. I had my family addicted to 3rd edition and we were all dissapointed in the fact there was nothing new. Now we have discovered 4th edition and we can't wait to see what expansions are coming next
