Cannot Be Bribed, Cannot Be Bought

By the1andonlime, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

When a event card says "a character is knelt by an opponent's effect", does it refer to the opponent of the target's controller or an opponent of the player who played the event card?

Specifically, can I use Cannot be Bribed, Cannot be Bought on my opponent's character after I use an effect to kneel it?

Cannot be Bribed, Cannot be Bought

[Neutral Event]

Response: After a character is knelt by an opponent's card effect, stand that character. Then, that character claims 1 power and you draw a card.

No. It must be your opponent's effect.

See the FAQ, page 9: "When a card refers to an "opponent," it is always referring to opponents of the player controlling the card making the reference."

"Knelt by an opponent's effect" refers to the controller of the kneeling effect. If you kneel an opponent's character, you cannot use "Cannot Be Bribed..." on the character you just knelt.

However, in a 3+ person game, say that you are Player A. If Player B uses a kneeling effect on Player C's character, there is nothing stopping Player A from using "Cannot Be Bribed..." on Player C's character in response to Player B's kneeling effect because Player B is an opponent of Player A (you).

Another question regarding this card:

Can I use this on a character that I chose and knelt due to my opponent's Game of Cyvasse?
