Thing is that one has to know at least a bit to make a character properly (To know who the char actally is) and to know at least the basic things such as if you live in a hive knowing what a hive is.

When i first corssed this game i found myself knowing enough of "macro" fluff and stuff, but lacking enough "micro" about the imperium of man and its small things planets administration etc to play this properly. for that end, i repeat myself core rulebook does wonders, and if you want to keep the spirit of what we both agree in what you siad, you can always "skip" the bits your character wouldnt know.

Is it still possible for another player to join? I've played Dark Heresy for a while now and I'm looking to expand the amount of people I can play the game with since variety is the spice of life (or grimdark in this case).

So seeing as the 24th is in a week, I'd like to ask some questions.

1. So how is it with open space in a group, I've counted 9 people in this tread and althrough some might already lost interest, it's still quite much for one group (more like 2 simultaneous groups).

How is it with characters and char creation, I've spoken with paperbard about how he wants it rolled and stuff, but how about other things like:
- who plays who - what classes/homeworlds/packages are taken/avalible??

- which classes/homeworlds/packages are acceptable and which banned (like SoB, mutant hive or two psykers with living nightmare)

3. Will 24th be a group meeting where such things will be discussed or will it be first session?

as for rolling stats etc i suggest we just use maptool or an IRC dice server (never really used IRC but i've heard they exist) and for character creation i recommend everyone uses the '40 Character sheet' that's in the rogue trader forums (can be used for any 40k char) - i'm considering a moritat assassin

Personally I think we should use a point buy, say 100 pts as per Rogue Trader and the GM rolls all Insanity, corruption, Fate, etc. I've played a few online games before, and as much as I like the honour system, it rarely works. In game, well we could either just roll, use a forum (i know of one with a great dice tool and wonderful formatting options), or the GM could roll for us.

Granted my preference for Point Buy is due to a raging hatred for random stats - point buy ensures everyone is good at something and nobody is good at everything. Max 20 points per stat, min 5 points per stat, and we wind up with a well balanced character that excels at one thing. Any thoughts from the GM?

Well given a recent disillution with my original concept and th lack of any input as to what the rest of you are doing, I'm going to build a ranged Assassin using a 100 point buy, modified as per GM ruling. i still await anyone contacting me via Skype or private message.

I'd obviously prefer to speak with the GM on some specifics about creation, such as starting thrones (as per RAW?) and whether we may sell unwanted equipment and what is available to purchase.

I've tried to contact mg via Skype but with no luck as I think he didn't even opened it yesterday but I did ask him about char creation when we've spoken about the month ago:

that way you have some leeway but we still get that random element
which believe it or not can be quite fun as you work around what you started with
dark heresy is all about clever thinking to get bonuse sto your rolls
so you rarely roll a straight roll if you're good at thigns

as long as we are honorable (I know, hard thing to do when noone is watching) and keep stats around a sum of 100 (frankly I've rolled a sum of 115 once in the past but it'll be hard to prove here) it shall be ok.

As for money and other I'll go RAW for now and I whink mg will claryfy it when the time comes.

Well here's my char and rolls done on a forum that is built for play by post DnD, so it has a dice-roller that turns red and angry and tells you when the poster or the moderators edit or delete dice rolls, so you know they're legit. I used 1 re-roll as per RAW, and haven't done all my skills and Talents yet, nor my equipment, but i definitely want to trade some things up. Also, if you gain the same Talent twice, do you exchange the extra talent for a Sound Constitution or for a Talented (Trained Skill)? I know that's how you do it in Rogue Trader.

I've decided to remake my psyker as he has quite poorly written story amond other things so I'm making another. To roll I'm using char generator suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/dhroller.html but it hasn't been updated for some time and still has some bugs (I've noticed Mid Cleansed uses build/hair/... from void born instead of imperial world). I'll post him when I finish and polish him up. (Also shouldn't only gm be able to read our story, so that we do not accidentialy meta-game?)

Oh, i ahevnt checked this for a couple of dyas but seems we are progressing fast. For characters i had in mind a Sororita already talked a bit wiht the GM and at least for sororita we use blood of martyrs book. As for rolls, i belive it was rolling for each stat onc and rerolling the lowest number, then asign the numbers to whatever stats you wish. Personally im more keen of what i saw (but didnt play) in other games in which all start wit h given values as many as stats and player asigns them to whatever stats, some are low some are average and others high so chars end having strengths and flaws etc. However i will go along with whatever we end using in the end ^^

It seems this thread has been going for a while, but if there is an online game with room I would be very interested in playing. I've run Dark Heresy a bit, but not gotten a chance to play. I've got character ideas in the back of my head for pretty close to every class.

Hello all, sorry i haven't responded to the thread in some time - i have been busy with work and running an RPG club.

As for the game, we have a psyker, ranged assasin, melee assasin, cleric, techpriest currently, with a potential scum. That makes 5 confirmed players.
