Innovation & Decking

By Mestrahd, in Warhammer Invasion Rules Questions

I have 2 simple questions that I'd like clarification on.

1) Innovation refers to "kingdom". Is that your kingdom zone or the greater kingdom as a whole (meaning all zones)? I'd assume the latter, but I'm not sure.

2) With regards to decking, do you lose as soon as the last card is drawn or when you go to draw and there's nothing there? For example, I played a game where I knew I was going into my "must-win" turn and I drew cards leaving me with exactly one card in the deck. Could I have played a search effect to grab that card or would that have made me lose?

1) It would be best to post the text of "Innovation". People don't always have the cards close to look at (especially if they're at work like me). Anyway, the answer is "your kingdom".

2) As soon as you draw the last card of your deck, you lose. In other words, if your deck have 0 cards, you lose.

"The Warhammer: Invasion LCG is played in three
zones: the kingdom, the quest zone, and the battlefield." (p. 4)

Bit unfortunate they didn't just name them kingdom zone, quest zone and battlefied zone.

So both of you are saying Innovation only counts developments in your kingdom zone? That's a pretty narrow card then. I might be playing wrong, but I like to distribute developments equally to avoid effects like The Hidden Grove and Und Dokbar and such.

And decking occurs when you draw your last, then? So, you'll always need to manage it to have at least one card remain? Again, it would seem to make sense that you're decked when you can't draw anymore, IE you play a draw effect or start quest phase with zero cards, since you've already safely drawn but just have left zero in the deck.

I suppose that's why I wanted clarification on these two, since I got both wrong. gui%C3%B1o.gif

BTW, Innovation reads: Gain 1 resource for each development in your kingdom . Sorry about not posting it earlier, I just figured it was a staple.

I skipped that BP, but unlikely I would've included any of those development-reliant Supports in the decks anyways. Really the only one you want to have developments in all zones is Empire, even if 1x Core Set means only one Judgment of Verena (though Manaan Take You! also keys off no developments). But when pumping up Treasure Vaults + Contested Stronghold (or two of both partido_risa.gif ), you want those developments in one zone, pretty much all the time that zone is KZ. Buildings in BZ being useless and all, QZ sees Supports placed, but seems so many of them have "kingdom" in italics so their effect only works in KZ.

I think innovation was an auto include before, but now with it on the restricted list, I think its one of the lesser of the restricted cards.
