Trait change to something that isn't in game.

By Ire, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Just wondering if this game is as strick as MTG.

Are we allowed to give traits that aren't in the game. Or in other situations name something to be something that isn't in game?

Doesn't change anything of gameplay just curious for the heck of it ;)

I am new to the game so my opinion may not matter very much, but there is no way you can know which traits exist in a game where deck construction exists where your opponent created a deck. So I can't think of any reason why you couldn't declare a trait that may or may not exist in the game. You may have event cards that effect a variety of traits and want to declare a trait that may seem to be the most harmful(or harmless) to cater that event.

Interesting question. That a card like Rhaegar's Harp exists seems to imply that cards can only be given traits that actually exist in the game, otherwise the character with the harp would get an infinite number of traits, including "Fallen Jedi", "Competitive Pie Eater" and "Plush Hobbit Ninja Master". gui%C3%B1o.gif You could even use Campfire Mime to create an entire army of Plush Hobbit Ninja Masters and then use LoW Robb to buff them...

Oh my god, I'm so making this happen!

Strictly speaking, the rule from on high is that you can only give traits that are in the game. If that means you are limited to the traits you know about in the game, then so be it. It's generally taken that the formatting of the word "trait" on the "name a Trait" cards is the indication that traits have to be "real."

Goodbye, Plush Hobbit Ninja Masters!

C'mon. Isn't it enough that you can make Shae an "Epic Battle"?
