I love the excitment, but be prepared to get your but kicked the first 3 Quests, as they are very easy on the Heroes.

What he says!!

And trust me, it's perfect that way, otherwise if, as you predict (I know, you were sarcastic!), you kick their butt... you'll have a hard time selling the idea of playing that game with your friends in the future!

Just remember... play the long game. Make them have fun, think that you're out to help them out with everything (especially if they're still new to the game), then after you hit Silver or Gold level, start showing them how the OL is supposed to be (sneaky, manipulative, and downright EVIL)... they'll still have fun, and you're still in a good place to come out on top. :D

The other advantage of going easy on them in the first leg of a dungeon is that you build up threat, which is an important thing for a new overlord to remember... Sometimes it's better to hold off on the 4 and 6 threat cards so you can play the 20 threat power card(s) that will make their life miserable in the later parts of the dungeons!

And re-read the rules & the FAQs after you’ve played it once or twice because you will have made mistakes. Regular visits to the forums will also help: we discuss all sorts of things and if you post any questions/problems you have there are always lots of people willing to help.

Good luck & I hope your group enjoys it.
