Fate points by homeworld

I'm not sure why I made this, but since I did I thought it might be interesting to be able to quickly compare the fate points that each homeworld offers. I sorted the homeworlds by the average number of fate points each gives.

If anyone wants it, I can upload the spreadsheet I made this with.

That's cool. I tend to just give everyone 3 across the board, that way no player starts out with a significant advantage because the dice were kinder to them. (and giving someone even 1 more fatepoint is a significant advantage)

That reminds me why I made that chart: I was looking for a way to remove the random fate point roll and, assuming that the number of fate point was decided for balance reasons*, I was going to say everyone they get the result as if they rolled an x, that chart was to help me decide what value x should be.

*Looking at that chart, I not sure.

An idea just occured to me about this:

why not have everybody roll up Fate points according to their homeworlds, add up the totals, divide by the number of players? Everybody starts that that number of Fate points. You can then either give everyone that number of Fate points, or determine that everyone is consdiered to have rolled "X", according to their homeworld. That way, everybody should be about the same, but a Void bord character will likly have +1 Void. A kroot -1 (say).

While that could work, and would allow the good rollers to pull up the average for the bad, (and potentially, if everyone rolled well, increase the overall number for the party) to me it would be yet another mechanic to deal with during character creation ... and I prefer the "Keep it Simple" method. (so far as you can do so in 40k)

But, if you don't mind the extra step then I suppose, why not?

I don't generally mind some extra rolls or mechanics at character creation, but I do agree with the KISS mentatily during play.
