Chapter Pack Reprints using new sales model?

By Methos, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Hello all!

I apologize if this subject has been covered before, but will the former Chapter Packs prior to the Brotherhood collection be reprinted using the new collation x3 sales model; which is fantastic btw!

I am getting back into the game and like many of you, want a complete collection of the new LCG cards without breaking the bank; which is why I love the new CP format - full player's set with no wasted or additional cards.

If the pre-Brotherhood CPs aren't being reissued under this format - what are the absolute MUST have CPs from the previous sets in order to stay tournament competitive? I would bite the bullet then to purchase those and then slowly round out the rest of the collection when possible.

I would appreciate any feedback you all have. I'm sure I'm not the only player with this concern and I'd love to hear how you have approached this collector's dilemma.

Thanks!

Obviously buy a core set.

Generic Answer: Kings Landing set is really good, and Brotherhood without banners was really good. Also, the refugees pack is a must have.

Specific Answer: Which house did you plan on playing? If you have a house in mind, then which decks you should buy will vary.

I was not a fan of the defenders of the north set.

Common consenus is that tis rather unlikely thet three years worth of CPs are going to be reprinted in the 3x format. Refugees of War is a must have, the first Ravens pack is probably a must - what with the Birds and the Raven Search Plot, The last winter Pack had some all star cards in it: Val, power rsuh Melisandre, the Wall, Balerion...probably a must buy. And then packs 1-3 of the Shadows cycle were all standouts.

Again - knowing what House you favor will help us be more specific in our recommendations.

Thanks so much for the feedback so far!

I plan on my first 2 decks on being Greyjoy and Lannister. Not sure which theme I want to go with.

When I played back in the CCG days, I went with Location Destruction Greyjoy and Lannister Military Jaime.

I was originally a Baratheon Rush player, but control ate me alive in mid-game. I felt more at ease with high pressure military decks. But never really gravitated toward Stark.

Are the deck construction suggestions in the small core sets a good starting place? I've collected one of each, except for the Martell reprint (of course). And yes, I did get the new Greyjoy reprint so no worries there.

I have collected thus far:

2 x Main Core Set

1 x Lords of Winter

1 x Kings of the Storm

1 x Kings of the Sea

1 x Queen of Dragons

1 x entire Brotherhood without Banners set

1 x Gates of the Citadel

1 x Forging the Chain

2 x Refugees of War

Thanks again for all the help!

You should pick up the King's Landing cycle for a Lannister deck, it's chock full of Lannister goodness.

I strongly suggest getting 3 copies of City of Secrets if you plan to play Lannister. Shadows Tyrion is one of the best cards in the game and City of Lies is a key plot for a shadows deck.

1x Secrets and Spies is another key pack as it gives Qyburn, Varys, and Littlefinger.

1x Tales from the Red Keep is pretty clutch - Syrio Forel fuels the "out of shadows" effect that Tyrion has and it also has a good City plot. It also gives you a really good cheap character for Greyjoy called Distinguished Boatswain.

1x Battle at Blackwater Bay for Alchemist's Guild Hall and City plot.

1x Tower of the Hand for City plot, the Jaime Lannister in it is pretty nice too.

3x A Time of Trials would be nice for Condemned by the Council (only comes 1 per pack), Gold Cloaks, City of Sin plot card.

If you have the Brotherhood cycle you should've picked up a lot of good Greyjoy stuff, especially the raider Euron.

Get Ancient Enemies for Fury of the Kraken.

3x Sacred Bonds would be nice for To Be a Kraken.

1x Song of Summer for Fishing Net.

I personally really like the Theon Greyjoy in Princes of the Sun, but you're probably going to wait until the 3x reprint comes out (the current version is 2 copies per card).
