I am surprised that they kept the Blackwood Conspiracy's ability to choose and wound any number of character without a combat icon. Very surprised.

Especially since they toned down the Yog Conspiracy's mill by three cards.

Broken Space, Broken Time

Game Text: Play during your operation phase. Action: Each player may search his deck for an Ancient one character with printed cost 6 or lower and put it into play. Then, shuffle all decks searched this way.

Wow...everyone needs to play ancients now :)

This AP is an example of the bad design at the end of the CCG era. The parallel cards that do something in the flavor of each faction are never equal because destruction>insanity>hand discard (for example). I dislike the fact that they are letting this AP into the LCG environment.

I agree that there is disparity in such things, but I think they could have balanced them better instead of nearly a straight up reprint.

The Nerd conspiracy still stinks and should have instituted restore and ready with the card draw. The Agency conspiracy is still overpowered and just reinforces Agency dominance. It needed to be toned down and will be especially nasty in multiplayer games. The other conspiracies I am fairly ambivalent about as they are good but not so overbearing as to be too notable. I am at a loss in how to fix the Syndicate conspiracy to make it more palatable though. It is likely the least useful of the bunch... sad.gif

I want this AP in the LCG, but in it's current form, I have strong initial doubts as to how thoroughly the power levels were thought out.

But we do have the rather effective restricted list to fall back on if they do become too nasty, so that is some solace.

@ Nerds: I also like the idea of giving them temporary Willpower, "...until the end of your next turn".

The Syndicate conspiracy could prohibit opponent's cards from being readied during their next ready phase. At first this might seem weak but think about Syndicate exhaust tech. Also it would allow a Syndicate player to rush additional stories during the turn they win the conspiracy. Even if this resulted in characters suffering insanity and death it opens the door for more tricks on the following turn.

I also have an idea on a balanced "On the Lam". gui%C3%B1o.gif

Seriously FFG, it's time to hire a copy-editor, or at least a part-time assistant that can spell. Now we have 2 "different" traits: Chthonian and Cthonian. Are they the same thing? I'm guessing yes... Oh, and it's sorcerer, not sorceror. Sorcerer with an 'e'!

Something as simple as spelling things correctly will make me for one (and I presume to speak for others) feel that FFG doesn't consider CoC the red-headed step-child of the LCGs.

On a different note, these conspiracies are crazy. I think it might finally be time for some conspiracy decks to enter the field.

Apparently you weren't around for the CCG days of Thrones where they couldn't decide how to spell Rakharo/Rhakaro/Rhakharo (including one card with TWO different spellings, one for the card title and the other in its text...) Or when they gave Princess Myrcella the WRONG SURNAME. Just to name a couple.

LOL. You mean this one that was reprinted for the LCG? javascript:void(0);/*1308000988335*/

I don't understand why the syndicate conspiracy is not useful. I would love to discard my opponent's hand.

The Yog Conspiracy is pretty wicked since it discards 20% of your opponent's deck. I wonder if they are trying to move the meta toward a larger deck size. Yog/Hastur mill seems like it could be very powerful now. And the Agency one is seriously OP. Everyone will be running 60-card decks with all combat creatures. lengua.gif

That's the one. They had a chance to fix it after multiple players pointed out the mistake, but nope. The only excuse for it is to keep the black-bordered one legal.

Likely because by the time you win that syndicate conspiracy your opponent likely has nothing in their hand by that time. Not always, but chances are better for it being of limited use than of great use.

I like the Yog Conspiracy even after the effect was toned down by a few cards. From my experience with Yog mill decks, it seems their posture is more defensive and putting a conspiracy in your deck for mill will likely not be of truly great use. There are more efficient mill cards and strategies than winning at stories. It's a neat card, but hardly so good as to change the meta where everyone is going to be running 80 card decks in order to avoid the grind.

How to say "Chthonian Sorceror" in Dagon - Erickhe Zshahnne (sp?)

Hey gang, sorry for falling off the map.

I was wondering where these AP came from. This set always had two AP: The Mountains of Madness and Ancient Horrors. Now, its showing three more: Spawn of Madness, Kingsport Dreams, and Conspiracies of Chaos.

So, the latest three are from CCG days huh?

Mountains of Madness and Ancient Horrors were originally just part of the tenuously named 'Madness and Horror' cycle. FFG changed the name to 'Forgotten Lore' and we slowly started seeing the original asylum packs that were printed during the death of the CCG introduced, revised and reprinted as part of that cycle.

The only one left from the original 4 asylum packs yet to be announced is 'Dunwich Denizens'. But using other asylum cycles as precedence and considering that there are only 5 asylum packs in forgotten lore right now, it is a logical assumption that Dunwich Denizens will be the 4th asylum pack in that cycle (Mountains of madness and ancient horrors being #5 & #6 respectively).

Its been a pretty good year for CoC considering the new collation reprints of Summons of the Deep cycle, reprints of the original CCG era asylum packs as well as the highly sought after Mountains of madness and ancient horrors packs, 2 entire asylum pack cycles (one which will contain 12 new story cards), and a deluxe expansion with a brand new faction at the beginning of this year.
