Galbart Glover

*Galbart Glover
Type:Character
Expansion set: Called by the Conclave
Trait(s): House Glover
Text: Immune to opponents' events. While resolving any effect that would allow you to search your deck, you may instead search your discard pile.

Can we use his ability with the effect of the plot Family, Duty Honor? (When revealed, search the top 5 cards of your deck for any number of House Tully cards, reveal them, and add them to your hand. Then, shuffle the other searched cards back into your deck.)

Thanks in advance.

Why not?? :)

cause maybe "search your deck" is a different effect from "search the top X cards of your deck".

As for whether this difference matters for Galbart Glover is something you may want to send directly to FFG since I can see it going either way, here.

Ok thak you. In my meta we think they are different effects, but the doubt still exists among some players, and as you say the rules are not really clear here.

Hmm, I would think that an effect that lets you "Search the top X cards of your deck" allows you to "search your deck" but imposes a cap or restriction of "X cards" (not sure exactly how to word that). I can see the argument from both sides, just stating my interpretation of it. Personally I hope the answer is no... if he doesn't work with Family, Duty, Honor then he wouldn't combo with Maester Luwin either, for good reason - event recursion is really powerful and FFG seems to be keeping it locked down pretty well. Broken combo potential includes winning a P challenge with Luwin, playing Seductive Promise, using Luwin's Response to get Seductive Promise back, kneeling Rickon to search for another event in your discard pile, shuffling 8 or 9 discarded cards back into your deck, playing Seductive Promise a 2nd time and having it in discard pile for the same thing next Round. I think that all fits together like I've described, might be wrong though.
Has anyone asked FFG about this yet?
