DH prices for RT Gear

By Cymbel, in Dark Heresy

Okay, I understand a lot of RT gear is out of the price range for even some high level pre-ascension PCs, but then again, there is a lot stuff and simple ammo types that PCs should be able to buy.

Like: Nightcloak (RT 140), Arms Coffer (RT 143), Preysense Scope (RT 134), Motion Predictor (RT134), Photo Scope (RT 134), Vox Operated (RT 135), Bacpack for Ammo/Energy (135), Expander Rounds (RT 136), Explosive Arrows/Bolts (RT 136)

And then from Into the Storm, there are items like the: Assault Lasgun, Assault Stubber, Civilian Firearm, Disposable Handgun, Sniper Rifle, Choke Grenades, Combat Shield, Parrying Dagger, Lacusta Hammer, Swordstick Cane, Shock Knuckles, Shock Stars, Double Edged Chainsword, Supression Shield, Tox Dispenser, Toxic Shot, Tracer Rounds, Snare shells, Blast Goggles, Firewater, Concealed Holster, Disguise Kit, Physik Kit, etc.

And these are a couple not so rare ones I picked out quickly, the real question is, why are so many useful, but not that uncommon items essentially barred from DH acolytes unless they have a PF of their own (like in one game where our job was to take over a gang) or ascend (granting requisition).

I mean, you can ask your GM to price stuff out individually, but that is not perfect and annoying in the end.

This needs to be bumped, and I too second this question. Does anyone have a price list they've made or a conversion solution? Maybe this glaring issue should finally be erradicated by us gm's/players that can put our noggins together and formulate a plan? Unfortunately, as much as I respect FFG, I really don't think they have any interest whatsoever in making even a simple pdf that adresses this great gaping maw of potential cool stuff that acolytes are missing out on, or they would have made one by now, I'm sure.

It's too bad... I'm sure it would be SO quick and easy for them to do so.... sad.gif

Well, not THAT quick or easy, as it needs to be balanced somewhat, but still, I mean DH gear works with RT, why not some of the lower end stuff working vice versa?

My solution to this in our game is to use the 'Requisition' rules from Ascension, basically saying that the equipment listed in RT is not readily available in the Calixis sector and as such requires some help to get a hold of. Then price is no longer a concern, only availability.

That IS fair for some of the rarer items, BUT:

Disguise Kits

Parrying Daggers

Concealed Holsters

Civilian/Disposable Firearms

How are these unique to the Koronus expanse? And all of them are interesting for Acolytes and should be not too expensive to acquire.

My issue is more, FFG thought up some more neat stuff, but unless they redo DH core and IH/RH, there is no practical way to get prices.

Well, I would price a concealed holster about the same price as a normal holster, parrying daggers as slightly more expensive daggers, and so on. Civilian / Disposable firearms should just be a few thrones.

You are right, there is no practical way to get prices, but as long as you are willing to ballpark it you should be OK. I usually just ballparked items anyway - if a player was haggling with a merchant, it's unlikely they would all have the same price anyway. I used book prices as guidelines.

Given, now you are stuck without prices as guidelines, but most of the equipment is just variants on the already existing stuff.

Except for stuff like Tox Dispensers, which are a godsend to any assassin type PC. I asked several different GMs and got prices ranging from 100-300.

(Side note on that one, do tox dispensers let you use one dose of poison ten times? That is how the GM interpreted it, but he isn't sure as the wording is vague and that does seem a bit too powerful (as basic necrotic toxin is 10 thrones)

Rules as written, the tox dispensers can be used ten times before requiring refilling. It isn't clear if that's one dose of venom, or if the weapon simply holds ten doses in an internal reservoir. (I'd be inclined to rule the latter, if it were my game.) Also RAW, they grant the weapon the "Toxic" quality instead of whatever effect the poison has. So, they're not that powerful, at least by RT standards.
