Hey Nidhögg,
Have you also use the dragon tower already?
How strong was your character when you went into the tower?
Just curious.

Yes we have. But unfortunate for me I haven't been into the tower yet as my friend beat me to it. But I think he was quite strong at the time, around 12 in strenght and/or craft. Perhaps it was less...
The thing is that with Dragon scales at your disposal you dont need to be that strong because you got those crazy bonuses in combat from the scales, so at the time the enemies in the tower didn't really pose a threat to him, and the Dragon Lord was just a piece of cake

Oke, well, i wonder if you can also go into the tower with a strength of 10.
I agree that with dragon scales, you grow stronger than you already are.
But they are also spaces where you draw 3 or 4 cards. That looks pretty dangerous, considering that you draw 3 or 4 dragons
Did you play with the dungeon too?
sadly, there is always the backdoor there, and if someone is going up in the tower, someone else could try to defeat the LOD quickly, before the other one reach the top of the tower.
i think that a character must not wait too long until he want to go into the tower.
The sooner you go, the more chances you have, but you also take a big risk...
Off course you can enter with strenght/craft 10. I think 8 in both stats and some dragontokens should be enough for most of the time. The thing is that you need both stats to fight in the tower because the Dragon Lords can change pretty fast. But also as you go to the top of the tower you'll cash in some trophys to before facing the dragonlord, so I really don't see any problem with the dragonlords. On the contrary, I think they are to weak...
And if you draw 4 dragons on a draw 4 cards space I should call you really unlucky, because there are plenty of other cards in the decks to but enemys.
We used the dungeon and the highland in one game, but nearly nobody went there because all the dragonscales was on the main board so everyone was going after them instead. With the Dragon-expansion the gameplay gets very focused on the hunt for dragonscales

Ah oke. so the average strength or craft that a character needs is still around 10 unless you have 8 with a some tokens.
You still need luck. most characters have probably upgraded only his strength or craft status. so facing a craft enemy with a strength based character is bad luck.
well, that's what talisman is about
Yeah, the dragon lords are not so strong.
But if you play with domain of dragons, then it don't matter where you go. You have the same chances to draw dragon cards as on the mainboard.
But with tokens, i can imagine that most tokens are on the mainboard. But characters cannot defeat those dragons in the beginning of the game, so they should focus on the adventure, instead of hunting dragons. they risk their life anyway
This is definately on my christmas list! It will be my first expansion set, so hope it still plays well.
Played the dragonexpansion first time a couple of weeks ago, and it was quit a good boost for the game, but a couple of things.
First did we get it right? We did the following. At the beginning of each players turn he/she takes a dragontoken and places it on the dragon of same colour, when one dragon has three tokens it becomes the king and two tokens goes to discard and one token ends up on the gameboard where the player who draw it stands. If you end up on a square with a dragontoken of the current king you have to take a card from the dragondeck and not encounter the square normaly, but if you land on a square with a token that is not the current king you could choose to take a dragoncard or encounter the square normaly, is this correct?
What happends with multiple tokens on a square? and how do you do with discardtokens? we took the discarded tokens out of the game, should we have put them back in the bowl? because even if we where only three players, at the time when one of us went for the middle and inne regions there where not that many tokens left.
Only tried the towerside of the new board, and that worked well after you get a hang of how you move.

Yes, that's correct.

It's not possible that a space(square) has mulitple dragon tokens.
If you must place a dragon token on a space, that's already has a dragon token, then it goes to the next space counterclockwise.
Discard tokens goes to the discard pile for tokens.
If the bowl (where you draw the tokens) is empty, then you shuffle all the discard tokens back into the bowl
Ah, we missed that part about putting a "double" token on the next square.
Thanks : )

Don't forget that dragon rage is triggered if the region is full of dragon tokens
Have fun with the dragon expansion!

I receive my copy of the dragon expansion today!
Well, i have immediately sleeving all my dragon cards.
I must say that the rulebooks feels different than the other rulebooks before.
I think they use other material(paper) with this rulebook.
Anyway, i am happy with the purchase of course!
The artwork looks pretty good, and i really like the dragon toad. So funny!
I have put my dragon tokens in the dragon scale bag.
I will make a photo tomorrow how it looks like!
I need a good nap now. Dragon sleep is in the air lol

Dragon scale bag with dragon tokens

A bag full of goodies!
so jealous!, I hope Santa brings me a copy
I was just looking at the dragon cards, and it seems that vartrax has the best stuff.
Cards such as dragon talon, dragon bane and excorcist blade are great.
But it has also banner of valour, and holy lance.
With dragon stalkers, you can reach the top quickly inside the dragon tower.
It seems that GBG has a new dice bag called: Dragon blood
Blood from the Dragon King's kingdom!
Luckily, i like mine better
Take a look here...
I was looking at the dragon king alternate ending, and it looks like that it cannot be played with the dragon lord cards?
I assume he cannot be king for both 3 decks ^^
i think it's just a alernate ending if you play a game without the dragon expansion.
However, it can be used with the dragon realm..
Our next talisman game will be sunday.
I am still excited to use the new stuff
Our next talisman game will be wednesday.
We will play first with the normal dragon token rule.
Can't wait!
I had my first game today.
I played solo in preparation for a proper game with my mates. A test drive kindof.
It played really well. I found the slumber counters redundant preferring to just place the slumber dragon scale on the dragon or enemy instead.
Also the rules don't state that the Draconic Lords are classed as 'Dragons' for card text or rule purposes. Does a weapon bonus against a dragon also work against the dragon king or Draconic lord?
Makes sense to treat them as dragons as they are but the designers may have meant them to be tougher than the normal enemy: Dragon and and haven't given them the loaded key word 'enemy dragon' or simply 'dragon' on purpose.
I'm glad I did a test run as I found myself discarding the dragon scales off the board once I had encountered them. The rules don't really state what happens to them after an encounter where you didn't defeat an enemy. I realised that the very omission of such a rule indicated that they should remain on a board space indefinitely until claimed by killing an enemy of the matching dragon deck

The draconic lords are creatures.
You can only use those weapons or abilities on enemies with the keyword dragon.

If you did not defeat the dragon enemie, then the token stay on the board.
The color does not matter. If you defeat a vartrax dragon, and there is a green dragon token, then you can still claim it.
But that chance is low i think. Because there may only be one dragon token on a space, and you draw from that same deck.
Have played with the dragon expansion today, and the tokens were a nice addition to the game.
We will use the dragon domain ending in our next game
On top of that, i also won the game. it feels good lol.
