Hi,

In the rules for the Reaper Expansion it states when landing on the Warlock Quest the player chooses freely one of the Quest cards.

Does this mean the player picks one at random from face down cards or can the player choose which Quest they want to complete.

I don't have the Reaper expansion, so I couldn't say. Check with people in the other topic and hopefully someone can answer.

The phrase "chooses freely" has a different meaning than "draw a card." The official rule is to look at the Warlock's Quest cards and choose which quest you undertake.

That said, we place the cards on the Warlock's Cave and players draw one randomly.

The general opinion seems to be that the quest cards are drawn at random.

However, if the players can choose freely whatever quest they want:

1) The Warlock´s Cave is now important target to reach quite early in the game, because the more faster you visit this place, the more easier you will get Talisman. So, more players try to get to middle region earlier in the game.

2) The first Talismans are quite easy to get, so I would except more fighting between players over those "easy Talismans".

Whether this improves the gaming experience or not, I can not yet say. Could be lot of fun also like this.

I have to say that Warlock's Cave has seen action more since adding Reaper and the Quest cards (8 games so far) than probably in the 20+ years before that . We draw at random. Might have something to do with there being (only) 3 Talismans in the 194 card Adventure deck as well.
