The Ferryman

By Draii, in Talisman Home Brews

Inspired by the official Reaper, and the Ice Queen and Toad King from these boards, here is the Ferryman.

The idea is to use the river and give an alternative way to cross the Stormriver (or die trying).

English is not my first language, so feel free to point out grammar or spelling errors.

Playtested the Ferryman last night, and it worked fine, although he didn't see to much action. One safe crossing and a couple of lifes and lost turns because of him.

Enjoy.

Hmmm... not so thrilled about having my graphics reused outside of intent.

Oh, it was yours?

Thought it was from one of the official cards. I'll change it then, sorry about that.

*pictures down until changed...*

THERE, new versions of pictures in original post (borders changed to exclude other artists work).

And, again; JCHendee; It was never my intent to "steal" your graphics. I know from personal experience how frustating that can be, when others takes credits for your work. Hopefully you see it from the bright side that your graphics was so good that I mistook it for original Talisman art. I hope there are no hard feelings.

Actually, have you looked at Strange Eons, the game card making software, and Jon News plugin for it to make Talisman cards? The original template for my "rules" card is in there... of was that where you found it? And I don't mind people using my stuff as intended, and that's why I've put some of my custom templates out there for use.

No, I just googled aroud to find Talisman cards with a nice border. And used the one i liked as a template.

AH... a bit of a dangerous prospect... but we've all done it.

I work exclusively in PS CS5.5 and AI CS 5 for my own creations, but check out SE when you have the time, since its free. Jon's done some pretty awesome work on the Talisman plugin (and currently working on the same for Runebound). Great way to create all sorts of cards on the fly with ease. Not as versatile as a graphics editor, but its more versatile than some would assume.

Draii: I notice in your photo that one of the Adventure cards is on a stand.....would that be Cerberus? Or do you have some system of using stands? I use them myself to remind me of what Spells I have (otherwise I always forget to use them). At first I thought I might use stands for all the Adventure cards on the board so that they don't disappear onto the board; what stopped me was that that way, they're only visible by some people at the table.

I like the Ferryman, by the bye.

Hi Zozimus!

That is correct. We use stands (the ones from Talisman 2nd edition) for cards that "block" the way, like Cerebus and sentinels. Otherwise it's easy to run past them by mistake.

We also use to put events on a stand in the middle of the board.

Glad you liked the Ferryman, he's not very important or dangerous (unless you choose to enter the boat), but I thought he would give some more life to the game.
