This first post is for a Kroot character i created out of boredom. There might be more to come( or not). Mostly this thread is meant as a gathering of ideas and feedback for the relating Rogue Trader game.

I just have the stats and limited description of the character, sorry no background yet.

Second Post here is mostly for the back ground of my Rogue Trader. I think i might have something here. Will have the background for my Kroot later on.

Subject: Kerghan Holt

Kerghan was the Second son to BattleFleet Calixis officers Xanatov and Janthine Holt. The ship he would call home for most of his yearly years was the Sword class frigate Centurion. His Father Xanatov, was the chief gunnery officer for the 1st macro cannon battery. Known for his resolution and keen sense of judgment, the guns under his command rarely missed there target. Janthine Holt was the vessels chief medicae officer and a very talented physician.

Kerghan's early education was a mix of lessons common to most Imperial children, But also lessens in the proud history of the fleet. As to be expected, discipline was harsh but through dedicated study and hard work he soon found him self at the head of his class. He had a profound Interest in astronomy and stellar navigation that got him an early roll as an assistant to the helmsmen.

Aside from his studies of Naval matters, he also learned a great deal from the ships confessor Darrius Godwinne. He was the one that taught all of us officer candidates to venerate the God Emperor and to armor our souls with faith against the darkness as well as humanities purity. I may not have been as devote as some of the others, however some of the old confessors lessons strengthened my resolve in my other studies. After all, The Imperial Navy is Humanities shield.

The combination of officers Training and the more religious lessons brought about my true sense of calling and revelation, and that was the higher duty not only to the Throne and Emperor. But to humanity. I considered that my highest calling.

My First real challenge came with our first deep void run. The journey was full of peril, the warp was unexpectedly turbulent. Though the wonders on the other side far surpassed my expectations. At first there was fear and anxiety, soon replaced by intrigue and wonder. Though i may not have gain any particular knowledge, I do not fear the unknown as much as i first did.

It wasn't long before i was promoted to a ranking officer. My first assignment was to the augery station were my skills would find a more proper use, can't say they couldn't have made a better choice. though roughly 6 months later, while on shore leave. My Parents approach me with a rather will dressed man in tow.

The man identified him self as my grandfather, Sarvus Holt. It took a bit to take it all in, I never knew that my Grandfather was a Rogue Trader. Apparently my older brother turned down the offer set be fore him. So with the support of captain Alessaunder and the warrant of trade from my grand father, I set out for Port wander to seek my destiny as a Rogue Trader and to up hold the Prestige of both the family and the service to the Emperor's shield.

May the Emperor continue to smile on BattleFleet Calixis and the trials that lie ahead.

Given that i have nothing else better to do, I shale attempt to write the Background of my Kroot character. Given that the only resources i have being the core book and Into the Storm, i shale try try to make a half decent one. while my last one was based off the origin path, this one will more or less be based off my crude imaginative ability. Ode to a spark of insanity.

Thought little to no information is present about this Mercenary's past or the war sphere she came from. Leakena Arun has lead an active career in numerous hunting expeditions to the death worlds of the Koronus expanse. Her reputation as a bold hunter fetches a high price in certain circles. Though not currently part of any known kindred she has taken a liking to traveling the stars in search of new worlds to hunt upon.

She mainly operates out of Foot Fall, where imperial presents is sparse and business is good. Though a hunter and Mercenary by Nature, she can't ever seem to escape the urge to wander into the uncharted reaches of the expanse. Either out of curiosity or a sense of wanderlust, she never seems to be in one place for too long.

Despite Her alien appearance, her exotic beauty has turned more than a few heads both human and other wise. And as a hunter she knows how to manipulate those caught in her aura.

"I know it's short, not much to go on as far as Kroot." Though i have to say the story is interesting, and some what out of character for kroot. we are in fact in the expanse and odder things have happened.

The Joys of Blackmail, Favors and Inquiry on FootFall

This short but interesting post will cover our first stay at FootFall. Though we are far from done in this setting, we shall at least cover our current state of affairs.

First order of business is that our Ork has changed out to a Void-master, we will be joined at some point an astropath and explorator, and we have a new Rogue trader joining our party. We all hope to give some insight on how to perform a halfway decent attempt at blackmailing to get something you want, and also a word of caution when wheeling and dealing in the merchant hub.

Shale we begin? Good

Our Story Really started around 2 sessions ago when we encountered some Raiders belonging to a merchant house based on FootFall. Based on auger scans the vessels did not register as imperial vessels and so were presumed to be pirates. After successfully ambushing the squadron and punching a hole into one of the ships with my forward lance and causing some critical damage. We then proceeded to board them before the were even aware of what hit them. In roughly one hour the crew of the raider surrendered and i took a leisurely shuttle ride to the crippled vessel to negotiate the captain's surrender. Upon entering the bridge the captain seemed quite surprised at what had happened and perhaps a little confused. After a brief exchange with the leader of the group only semi believing their story of them not being pirates although they were in the process of looting a transport without a proper warrant. We agreed to meet with them again in FootFall for final negotiation for the transfer of their ships and crew to my house for defeating them in battle.

To help verify there story we decided to explore the transport only to find no one on board. The ships records indicated that the vessel had been drifting in the BattleGround system for around 300 years.the vessel was crewed by a combination of agents from the adeptus Mechanicus and the Ecclesiarchy. We found an energy signature near the engineerium and went to investigate. We found a cryo stasis pod with a man inside protected by some rather interesting guard servitors. After a brief battle we soon had the pod open, The figure that stood before us was a rather tall and hefty Explorator named Virel. Concluding a brief exchange of information we agreed to help him reach FootFall ( seems that our roads lead to FootFall).

We manage an uneventful docking at FootFall and proceed to meet with Virel. Upon meeting him he tells us that the ones that commissioned the voyage have been dead for some time, and that no one even acknowledges the operation even existed. Also for reasons undisclosed he doesn't hold the Mechanicus in very high esteem and a little resentful to have to go back. Seeing him down on his luck I offered him a place on my ship, His only request was that we setup a work shop for him and to install his cryo pod that he referred to as his bed. Agreeing to the terms, we left him to his work while preparations were made.

To continue on we set out to the Merchant hub to meet a contact named Nick RuneBlade. as we neared the shop, a shuttle landed nearby and exited a very well dressed individual. The gentlemen appeared to be heading to the same shop ( The shop keeper must be selling some very high quality items). As we enter the shop, we notice that all sorts of Personal arms and armors were displayed on the walls and shelves. For a moment I made eye contact with the man from the shuttle, He introduced him self as Tiberius a fellow Rogue Trader. After a brief conversation we figured that we were both generally new to the rigors of the trade and decided to ally our selves for the time being. Shortly after a void master entered the shop, his name was Cromwell.

I went up to the shop keep and ask if his name was RuneBlade, after a sarcastic response we soon got down to business of the message left to us by seneshal Godwin. He apparently left us the floor plans for the Righteous Path( how nice of him). Though when we went to make our purchases we soon discovered that it wasn't thrones he was interested in. You see his currency was favors, for further information on the merchant house he wanted me to cut the engine block out of one of Winterscale's Cruisers. The arch-militant named Thor, wanted a man portable autocannon. Payment was to be an eldar artifact from an auction house. You can possible Imagine the rest of the scene but it was mostly the exchange of goods for interesting favors.

Leaving the shop, knowing that incriminating the merchant house would now seem to be slightly more difficult i decided to cross reference the information i did have to see if i could find something my self. On the ship i went to work on the delicate research at hand and arranged for the work on Virel's new quarters with Thor supervising. After much time and effort i finally found the evidence i was looking for. I learned that there was recent pirate activity in the BattleGounds that corresponded with the time frame of the raider encounter and Their identification codes had been purposefully tampered with. Combined with the data downloaded from the captured raider and my own combat logs i found my self in a unique position.Though i did not have nearly enough evidence to incriminate the house, The captains in question were a different matter. As a side note, Thor encountered a grot in the halls and killed it.

For now this is as far as we got so far, I hope that this proves to be an interesting read By the way the skills Involved in the investigation were mostly common lore imperium and imperial navy with some tech use and logic. To perform such research consult your GM for the skill use checks if you think they will yield some answers.

A question. The merchant Nick RuneBlade asked to get the engine from a ship belonging to Winterscale in return for information about the merchant house we were interested. Now that we have the records that will imply the two merchant captains were pirates and we will go for the blackmail part to solve our problems with the merchant house, it is worth Winterscale wrath for the information RuneBlade has about the merchant house? What is the profit in this? The mission is not too dangerous for too little return?

Will we not be branded as pirates ourself and is it worth it?

First of all, we are not going after the Merchant house. We will be using the data gathered to indite the raider captains. easier to do with the ammo we have so to speak. might go for winter scale for trade for a later favor once we get Tiberius's battle cruiser better out fitted. still need to acquire access to that auction to pay for your cannon. and gain access to a mass conveyor. Don't worry your self, things will work out just fine . For an arch-militant you really seem to lack confidence in action. instead of simple going along with what I say or do, try to come up with solutions and insight that is unique to your character. Since i've started this nice thread, please take the opportunity to write ot a nice character back ground for your guy and post it here. and don't hesitate to speak up in vent, everyone's opinion matters in the long run. I'm on vent at the moment, if you wish to ask questions i can try to help you answer them.

I didn't find any fortress worlds in the Calix Sector so I made my own.

I will try to provide a brief description of the background of my character Arch militant Thor Blackmane.

Thor Blackmane was born into a minor noble family on the world of Inferno III a small fortress world overlooking the Azeroth Abyss. He was the first son of Annabele and Joseph Blackmane mid tear officers in the military forces of the fortress world.

Growing up on a fortress world was unforgiving harsh. His day was filled from a early age of monotunous training sessions in the arts of war were he excel using all kinds of close combat shotguns. The monotunous of the training was punctuated by attack from the numerous chaos raiders that the planet was built to protect the sector from.

Desiring to travel and see the rest of the sector and help other people he join the Imperial Guard. He was shipped from warzone to warzone fighting in many wars across the sector doing his small duty to keep the sector and the IOM a little bit safer. He made close friends with the his regiment priest and would instill in him an unshackable faith in the God Emperor that will help pass the many atrocities seen on the battlefield. During his service he and his regiment will fight many times the minions of the Fell Powers and he will bear witness of many of their atrocities.

After he exits his service in the Imperial Guard he would j serve as a bodyguard to protect his friend the regiment priest in his travels and in execution of his duties. There he would find that his friend belonged to the salvatorum laborus a ministorum cult that was trying to help and redeem many people. Most of the hard cases in the orthodox Church opinions. Expressing his and his willingness to serve convert the heathen of the Koronus Expanse they booked passage to worlds in winterscale domain and beyond.

Before he travel with his friend to the worlds of Koronus Expanse he will return home to his father and mother. There he will inform his parents about his intention to join his friend the priest in his travels to the Koronus Expanse worlds. While the family was not too happy with his decision he will be gifted with the family suit of power armor that was passed through generations as the noble family most prized possession to help him stay safe in his travels in the expanse. A truly wounderus gift. He will promise that he will sent anything that could help his family.

It will pass many decades where he will serve as a bodyguard of many salvatorum laborus missions converting the heathren of the Koronus Expanse. He will travel to many worlds in the Expanse as passangers of friendly and sympathetic rogue traders. The worlds are diverse from paradise like worlds to death worlds and toxic atmosphere worlds. He will see many wonders some of xenos origin and meet in his travels many xenos of animals,plants even a rare xenos sentient specie.

But the Expanse is notorious dangerous.Pirates,xenos beasts or aliens, traps of long dead civilizations, the greed and folly of rogue traders and /or imperial authorities and criminal organizations or worse will all the worlds of the expanse filled with conflict.He will excel in his martial abilities during the defense of his charges and even of the civilians they have come to convert.He will be one of the people tasked with utillising heavy weapons to help in the defense of the missions and their flock.

He will come to regard the many pirates and privateers that plague the Koronus Expanse as dangerous and evil as the chaos he from the military days has come to hate.

But all the travels through the expanse has taken his toll on his body. His body will start to mutate because of the many and toxic chemicals found on many planets he had visited in the Koronus Expanse and a slight warp taint in the blood line of the family. He will became a brute of a man.

A huge blow will be when his parents will disown him because of his distasteful relationship with low life characters as mutants or savages.

One of his duty inside of salvatorum laborus was to recruit mutants as body guards for the missions. Other time he will travel as body guard for missions and priests that will minister to them. During his duty he will get to know the mutant populations of footfallen,port wonder ,and koronus expanse being a well known and respected member of those comunities. Durring his travel with the religious organization he will sometime encounter entire planets populated in the Koronus Expanse populated by mutants. Most of the time the mutants could not be redeem in the eyes of the cult and had to purge the mutant population and make way for a pious one.

One of the Rogue Traders that used to ferry them around betrayed them to pirates that allowed a band of vicious pirates to attack both the mission and the people the priest were converting to the Light of the Emperor. While the pirates were eventually defeated by both the natives and the mission bodyguards not before his friend and the mission priests.He will lead the charge that will capture the pirates ship he would find out that they were betrayed sold by a trusted Rogue Trader to his buddies among the pirates of the Koronus Expanse. The mission would use the pirate vessel to track down the traitor rogue trader. He would man the macrobateries that ended the ship and life of the treasonous rogue trader.

They will use the ship to arrive to Footfall and then he will book passage on ship going to the Calix Sector where he would have located some of the leaders of the salvatorum laborus sect. There he would report to them what happened. Grieving from the lost friend he parted ways on good terms with the sect and decided to go back to Koronus Expanse.He manage to get an employee contract for master of ordinance on one Rogue Trader Sarvus Holt ships.

He would be assigned on the ship that was given to Sarvus Holt grandson as master of ordinance where he made fast friends with the current Rogue Trader Kerghan Holt despite his mutant status, may the God Emperor bless him.

you have some minor grammar and spelling issues, but other than that all seems well. I'm just wondering how you got the lineage that was 300 xp counting you spend all but 50 of your starting xp on the origin path? But no matter, I did find it interesting how you woven in your meeting with my character's grand father and your standing with Kerghan. You did a very nice job
