Stop the Empire

By Romanz, in Warhammer Invasion Organized Play

I've palyed today one regional with a Dwarf deck...it was okay..except against Empire...dear FFG, please test the cards before the print. I'm from Italy and unfortunatly here the people play only PRO, in USA the people is different, U play Chaos cause U like Chaos for example...but here the people test for something like 7 hours per night.

The problem is the balancment. Empire is too strong. Okay the FFG is printing a lot of cards for the other decks but print Empire as well.

My question is:someone agree with me or not? In my country the game is near to death for this reason.

Help us!

One thing I saw on the Call of Cthulhu forums when there was a broken card was the idea of a soft ban. I know you guys play "PRO", whatever that means, but the concept is if you wanted to consider yourself to be a top player and "honourable" you wouldn't play the Verena package if everyone in Italy (everyone? Really?) considered it overpowered. I'm not saying that the Empire doesn't win every game over there or that it isn't a serious problem, just saying that in the absence of an official FFG ruling you have to work it out yourselves.

You're going to laugh and say "people don't care, they just want to win" and yes, people will play the broken archetype if they want to win. Then nerf it yourselves: Ban Visit the Haunted City or Verena within the tournaments, that will force people to not play it. You seem to want action desperately, so take desperate actions.

Romanz, as Happy said, take action! You guys seem to have a great league going over in Italy, which is more than can be said for most other countries. Here in Japan, I scramble to find even a handful of players. I have no doubt that FFG will solve this issue (if it is really that) eventually, either through some ban or the contents of future BPs, but in the mean time, why don't you make some house-rules for your league? If everyone over in Italy is enjoying the game as much as you say, I cannot imagine you guys abandoning it just because FFG does not take action as fast as you guys wish.

Unfortunatly in Italy the gamers are too straight...(and who can, wanna win) so if they don't create a new restricted list they don't wanna change the meta -.-

A lot of people play for fun...but ok...U'll go in a tournament with the 15% of possibility of win...It's not fun...not for a GAME.

I won my regional as dwarf. 25% of the playing field was empire.

Hm, this is a tough one. The majority of people aren't having fun (I'm going to assume most people are like yourself and don't like being forced to play an Empire deck running the Verena package) and yet the majority of people like to win so they run that deck. That's tough. If these people don't like fun but like winning they should enter accounting competitions or something gran_risa.gif

Sadly, we haven't been able to reach a critical mass here in Calgary, Canada either. I am totally jealous of the Italian and Polish leagues as it sounds like in any major city you can find a core group of players.

Here we play a lot, but a lot of players left the game 'cause nw is too unbalanced...

Same here in the UK.

Hi

I run Wargames Workshop in NORTHAMPTON UK, and starting on Sunday 31st July i am going to try to start running one event every month if i can, we have a few and growing local player base, we had a few empire players in our last tournament and they did win, however most players here try lots of defferent races.

I am going to look at different tournament ideas, in our league we player a lot of multi player games (same rules as single except only can attack player to your left, tactic can be played on anyone) seems to work well, we also say you can't play with the same race more that once in a night.

The league kits also give points for winning with different races which works well too, i think players can be changed in the way they play and think of the game, but if does take the tournsament, league organizers to bring in rules to do this. It happens with other games.
