How do you organize your AGoT cards for storage?

By JohnRReynolds, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

I've now spent over $400 at Coolstuffinc.com buying up all the cards (except for Princes of the Sun, obviously) and now have 100s of cards to organize and I'm not sure how I want to do it. I'm leaning toward splitting them up into the 6 houses and neutral cards, each grouping organized by card type (attachment, location, character, etc.). Yet I'm also tempted to keep them by set, and organize them as above that way.

So I'm curious how others organize their cards, and hoping to glean an idea or two from the responses.

I have mine organized in binders by expansion and card number. 1 of each card in the binders, up to 3 binders with the newest expansion cycle starting a new one. My spares are organized by house/neutral/plots/agendas in a storage drawer that slides open and my decks are in one on top of that.

I've got 2 separate 3000-card shoebox holders from BCW, and my cards are in there organized by house, type, and alphabet.

I use the fairly common white cardboard boxes. I have them separated into each house, neutral/multi-house, and plots/agendas. Within each house, cards are organized by character/attachment/event/location/house-X only plots.

Each finished or in-progress deck gets it own deck box.

My main storage boxes are getting full. I think I'm going to upgrade to one for each house.

My apologies for the double post, but one reason I like the white cardboard boxes so much is that they're easy to label and relabel with a pencil. Also, they're rather cheap.

There was a thread on this topic not so long ago, should only be a few pages back, in case you're interested in reading about the storage solutions of more people.

I'll go ahead and toss mine in here, I use 2 1600 count "shoebox style" boxes to organize by house/neutral, then card type, then expansion, then gold cost, then alphabetically w/in gold cost (I'm a little ocd lol). I then have an 800 count box full of surplus dupes (gotta love those early CPs) and then a small 400 count box with all my agenda and plots (organized by initiative/alphabetical). Took me a bit to get the hang of everything but now I can find things really quickly...

Interesting how no one seems to use 3-ring binders with 9-card pocket pages. Because that's what I was leaning towards myself. cool.gif

I use those, and I know some other people do as well. I think it depends on what kind of deckbuilder you are. If you like to look through your cards and see what might fit the deck you're building, having them in a box sorted by house, type and cost is probably fast and more intuitive. If you build decks only once in a while, perhaps with the help of a deckbuilding tool like the ones at cardgamedb.com or agotcards.org, where you plan your deck beforehand and then just assemble the cards, binders might be a good option.

I'm using those and I'm only partly happy with this solution. I mean, the quality is good and all, they're tidy, and they look good, so no problem there. The thing is, I'm an avid deckbuilder, I'm constantly fiddling with them, and on game night I usually show up with four, five, six or more decks. That means I spend ungodly amounts of time sleeving, unsleeving and resleeving cards and putting them in and out of the binders. Really, I'm talking hours here. If I had to start organizing my cards again from scratch, I'd just buy some fitting boxes (or even make them myself), get 1000 sleeves of the same design and store the cards sleeved.

The Fantasy Flight sleeves due out this summer are tempting along with deck boxes (which FFG had some of those too, especially a Coldhands artwork box. . .that would rock, love the art on that card), but I like the idea of using the 9-card pocket pages for browsing through the cards to learn them.

I'm not quite the hardcore player I'd like to be (VERY limited number of players around here), so I'm not in my cards constantly building and sorting. I use one 1600-count "shoebox" and it currently holds all the cards I've purchased (one copy of everything other than the last three chapter packs and the Princes of the Sun expansion, less the cards that are currently in sleeved decks). To separate the cards, I bought BCW trading card dividers on eBay (250 for $23 including shipping - I'll use the rest for my Magic cards).

I have my cards arranged by house, alphabetical within each. I didn't bother breaking them down into gold cost, card type and so on because the collection is still relatively small, and my wife and I tend to either a) thumb thru cards to see what we'd like to play, or b) use online tools to view cards first, then simply pull the cards from the box. After the houses, I have plots, agendas, kingdoms, kingsmoot, etc.

My decks (only four currently between me and my wife) are in one four-compartment lucite deck box, available at Cool Stuff for $7.99. I plan on picking up a second since I want to build a couple of new decks, and she wants to try her hand at Martell when we get PotS.

hey

I myelf do use the 3 ring binders to store my cards. And i developed a system for me that i really like. on my previous ccg's/tcg's the cards where all over the place and i never took the effort to sort them witch is ofc a dumb thing to do, so with this new and very AWESOME game i took control right from the beginning i bought a 3 ring binder the ultra-pro 9 pocket pages and ALOT of sleeves.

the system im using at the moment is i sleeved all the cards before i put them into the binder i had different color sleeves for each house
Baratheon = Green
Stark = White
Lannister = Yellow
Targaryen = Red
Martell = Orange
Greyjoy = Blue

all the neutral cards like some agenda's events and non house specific characters i sleeved in black sleeves plot cards i sleeved in clear sleeves no color (unless the plot is only usable in a specific house the its sleeved in that color ofc.

here is a link to some photo's that i made of the cards (dont mind the quality of the cards there in mint condition they are in sleeves that are matte (the clear part) so they are not shinny witch i think is a lot more pleasent to look at however that is not the case for martell and lannister and plots since they are not yet available in a matte color (Yellow and Orange and the clear ones)

I just bought the 800 count cardboard storage box. I purchased it here , where including shipping it only cost $3.00

4 binders

one for targaryen and Stark, one for Lannister and Martell, one for Baratheon and Nightswatch/ Wildings and one for Neutral cards and plots

I have two boxes.

One small box (from the Days of Fire and Ice @ FFG's HQ) for what I think are playable cards. Then the big box, by set and then by house for the cards I don't (yet!).

Love the binders idea. It would make browsing cards for deck building incredibly easy and well organized!

I use binders but i keep 3x copies of each card in every card pocket in the binder sleves. Which helps keep the number of binders down and makes it a little easier to travel with. (bringing all my cards to GenCon via plan)

yeah i was thinking about that as well but if u do that u cant sleeve them individualy but yeah im also using the pages single sided so just 9 cards per page and that quickly adds up
