New player looking for some help

By javiofranks, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

I've been playing for a month and I'm looking to expand my collection. I want to build a night's watch deck, but I have no idea which chapter packs to get. Basically I'm wondering which chapter packs are essential, and which ccg sets should I get since I'm keeping this game very casual and just playing at the house and stuff with no plan to actually compete. Thanks ahead of time.

For Night's Watch you will have to get Defenders of the North series of chapter packs, they are Wildlings and Night Watch focused. You might want multiples of some of the packs depending on how you want to go with it, but one of each is a must as that whole series has characters, locations, agendas all focused on Night's Watch and the Wildlings.

+1 Toq's advice. I would also add that it's important to pick the right house to play it out of. There are several powerful ways to build a NW out of Martell (dunno why, they just seem to work really well with it), and you can also pull off a Lannister (high gold = also play the cost 7 wildling armies for 6 huge armies) or Greyjoy (for Refurbished Hulk allowing you to play The Wall for 2 gold, or 0) deck. Finally, Baratheon can use the very obvious Defenders-block Stannis Baratheon to give all NW characters +1 str.

Or you can play them on their own using the neutral house card as well. But that card comes in the first of the Brotherhood without Banners series so you might not have access to it.

Do we have any indication that the older chapter packs are going to be reprinted in the 3x format?

If it is going to happen they haven't said anything about it yet.

True. Now what CCG sets are good for the game?

CCG and LCG are not compatible for tourney play etc. Casual play, go crazy. I have never used any of them myself as I stick with the LCG as there is more than enough there.
