due to a lack of gamers in my area, i'm running a solo campaign to give me something to do during the summer. I'm playing a rogue trader with psychic talents who's the son of Haarlock (suprise suprise), so i'm not too worried about demon encounters and such. However, i'd like to know how you handle ship battles, large scale combats, and the like. since i'm a single player, i don't have anyone to watch my back, so i'd like to know how to handle situations like that.
Solo campaign questions
While written with D&D in mind, this thread has oodles of ideas for how to handle a solo campaign. You may also want to look at this boards " Army of Two " thread.
I would strongly recommend that your GM either allow you to play multiple characters or at least have PC-equivalent NPCs to aid your rogue trader. Having fewer PCs makes a huge difference in ship combat, let alone one. Having as high a crew value as possible will help most rogue traders, yours could especially benefit from it. Make use of armsmen if you must in combat situations, making sure to equip at least a personal bodyguard (or twenty).
Hope the solo campaign works out for you.
If you need a game, send a message to asajev in the Rogue trader online forum post.

Way cool to see someone else post that WOTC thread. And yes, I am the same Heaven's Thunder Hammer who compiled the info from the first 450 posts.
Anyhow, from what I have read of RT, I think the main thing to have is some good weapons, good armor, for personal battles, as well as having good social traits. Another point to talk to with your GM is either a.) having some secondary PCs you can use or b.) Getting more XP for your PC so he can cover his bases better. Remember the thing about game balance: It mainly exists for GROUPS of PCs to have the same "oomph" factor in the game. There is no group, there is you.

.....i wish i would have known about this thread when i was running a solo Forgotten Realms Campaign.... this is amazingly useful thank you.
No problem. Kudos to HeavensThunderHammer from the sound of things! I've looked into solo campaigns myself just in case I run low on players.
