Shock Troops Question

By JDtrue, in Twilight Imperium 3rd Edition

I tried looking on this site and BGG site, but no real luck.

On a landing if you have two shock troops and you happen to lose the only GF (to a PDS) that's with it, what happens?

A) Both Shock Troops turn into GFs

B) One Shock Troop turns into GF

If you could quote or link me a specific source in the FAQ, that would be greatly appreciated. I read somewhere else that people thought option B was right and in the FAQ, but I can't find the darn thing for an official ruling. :-/

Reading the rules for shock troops myself, I find that it's not as explicit as you might like it to be. There's nothing in FAQ about this specific situation, and the closest the rules come is in saying that "if a Shock Troop is ever left alone [in context, meaning "without a plastic GF"] it reverts to a GF." Of course, in your situation there are two ST, which is sort of the crux of the question.

The way I see it - and as I said this is not spelled out explicitly anywhere, unfortunately - you would be forced to resolve the issue of "no plastic GFs" for each of the two STs. BUT, I would also resolve this dilemma one token at a time. So the first ST looks around and says "no plastic GFs here, guess I'm popping!" and would be replaced with a plastic GF. THEN the second ST would resolve, look around and say "oh, Bob is a plastic GF now, guess I'm cool." and would not pop. Hence, the result would be (B), only one ST turns into a GF.

That's how we play anyway. That's how every group I've played with has done it. But looking at the actual printed rules, that's not explicitly stated as clearly as some people might like.

Well thanks for the reply:) Even if there's no official word then. I just wanted to make sure I was missing something.
