IC Regional Top 2 Deck Lists

By Vitamin T, in Warhammer Invasion Deck Building

These are the decklists for the top two decks from the Iowa City Regional. The winner played a very slightly modified version of the Orc/Chaos list I won the FFG regional with:

Winner Peter Franke Orc/Chaos

3 Lobber Crew

3 Orc/Chaos Alliance

3 Warpstone Excavation

3 Clan Moulder Elite

3 One Orcs Scrap

3 Rip Dere 'Eads Off

3 Burn it Down

3 Lord of Change

3 Sorcerer of Tzeentch

3 Raise Dead

2 Foot of Gork

3 Pillage

3 Troll Vomit

3 Wight Lord

3 Contested Village

3 Grimgor Ironhide

3 Spider Riders

I currently feel that the best version of this deck right now runs Light of Morslieb rather than the Foot of Gork he had in here or the Stunty Smashas I had.

Runner Up Jerod Leupold Empire/Dwarf

3 Skinks of Sotek

3 Visit the Haunted City

3 Celestial Wizard

3 Spawn of Itzl

3 Light of Morrslieb

3 Contested Village

3 Derricksburg Forge

3 Mining Tunnels

3 Demolition

3 Ancient Map

3 Church of Sigmar

3 Huntsmen

3 Fredrich Hemmler

3 Peasant Militia

3 Rodricks Raiders

2 Called Back

2 Spell Singer

Similar to most of the empire list out right now but he didnt run the judgement package. It let him add in some interesting cards though I dont know that its the right call. Either way Visit can easily take over any game and with three maps he will have 1 or 2 out almost all the time.

This is the High Elf list I played in this event. It ended up doing better than I thought going 3-2 with 2-1 losses to the two finalists. Not to say that HE isnt the weakest faction right now, pretty sure it is.

3 True Mage

3 Skinks of Sotek

3 Spawn of Itzl

3 Dreamer of Dragons

3 Descendant of Indraughir

3 Envoy from Averlorn

3 Flames of the Phoenix

3 High Elves Disdain

3 Citadel of Dusk

3 Pilgrimage

3 Mining Tunnels

3 Demolition

3 Contested Village

3 White Lion Vanguard

3 Elven Warship

3 Outpost of Tiranoc

3 Sea Guard Captain

You could probably make a good version of this deck if you put in like 15-18 empire cards.

I'm not a huge competitive player in Invasion and just saw how silly Visit was. during my regular loss to pete and the championship game I found that the games came down to who went first. In the two cases I went first, he had few cards out as I cruised to a victory. When Pete got to play first it was pretty close to a wrecking ball each time. Match-ups and going first were real deciding factors.

I made the comment about rock paper scissors during the tournament and the banter quickly turned to- there isn't a third build out there as of yet to really push the Orc build around. It seems that these are the two top decks right now. This will quickly change with the release of Legends but I thought it was interesting.

Is it possible to know how many participants were at this event?

Runner Up's deck is illegal because of a missing card. Just 49 cards.

:-)

I ran the winning deck at this regional tournament. I just have a couple of comments.

When a die roll consistently determines the winner of a match, there's something wrong with the game.

I'm looking forward to the new legends cards in the hopes that they will shake things up. I'd like every faction to be competative equally.

I think he had 3 spell singers actually. If not, I will come down on him so hard!

Yes, it was 3 Spellsingers... Which, I will say wasn't the worst card in the deck. it consistently let me swing for one turn capital burnings with Friedrick, who, I think was the worse card in the deck.

Straight Dwarf Spite (no neutral units) won our regional in California.

Orc Delayed Rush/Control took 2nd.

As the Dwarf Deck, I had to beat 3 Orc Decks, 1 HE, and one Chaos.
The 2nd place Orc deck beat 2 Empire, 1 Orc, and lost to Dwarf twice
