Praying in the Imperial Shrine
Praying in the Machine Cult Shrine
Speaking with the Chaplin to ease the burden of duty or doubt (Space marines are human under all the implants and their mind needs tending)
Going to the Apothecarium to have Bionic upgrades (GM optional)
Speaking with various Brothers, officers or civilians
Meditating
Training new skills (Gm Optional)
Partake in debates (usually about how best to do the Emperors will)
Read reports on various sectors
Spend time in the Strategium watching your officers and the navy commanders at work (Many marines strive to glory and that means learning the way of command –but no effort is made to Teach it. Astartes are expected to seek out such skills and knowledge themselves to prove worthy of command)

Moving about the Ancient venerable ship
Volunteer to stand honor guard at various locations

View Picts from various previous campaigns
Look at the Wall of remembrance where every marine name is written in gilded gold.

I think one of the old Space Marine codicies (3rd ed?) actually had a Space Marine's daily schedule.

If I can dig it out I'll put it up here. Or someone else could do it.

Here we are, from the Space Marine Codex (3rd edition), with a note to the effect that Chapter Masters will change this up to keep the battle-brothers on their toes.

Legions Astartes Daily Rituals

0400: Morning Prayer

0500: Morning Firing Rites

0700: Battle Practice

1200: Midday Prayer

1300: Midday Meal

1315: Tactical Indoctrination

1500: Battle Practice

2100: Evening Meal

2130: Night Fighting Exercises

2315: Maintenance Rituals

2345: Free Time

0000: Rest Period Begins

That list is for standard Chapters. Deathwatch marines have a lot more flexibility in their schedules and routines. There's a lot more study, research and investigation time. Also, they have a lot of meetings and briefings with all sorts of other humans on various situations.

hehe 15 min off time from 2345 to 0000, well that sounds like a rigores militery life alright.

cool schedule btw.

When I have players, I want to afford them a certain freedom however, so I´ll modify my old schedule to include Fireing rites and so on, but keep the blanks for player development :)

Many chapter masters get rid of the 15 minutes free time, because they consider it a waste of time. The timetable pre-dates the Marine codex by a considerable margin. I believe it was first published in WD circa 95.
