Zor'ka weak?

By sejestephan, in Tannhauser

Hey all.

So I tried the new rules yesterday and the first thing that struck me was Zor'kas inability to do any harm at all to my team. 4 dice on 3's isn't exactly as good as it was before ... it's in fact, quite weak (on average she'll hit do 3 damage which against most characters are shocked on 4 dice of 5 ... so she'll do 1 damage and opponent gets to use a command point to shrug it off) I find it hard to believe that she is actually able to kill anyone anymore.

I think it's rather odd that Irishka is better in close combat than Zor'ka now, the latter being a God and all.

The other thing I noticed was that characters don't die as easily, which is a good thing, however killing them off seems VERY hard, har beyond reason in fact, with an average of 4 dice against 4 dice (most models have pistols or 4 dice weapons) it seems a little stale to me.

Finally we played the story mode game (we always play story mode) and found the new rules really odd. Why can you do the opponents objectives again? Does that make sense? And what happens when you solved 3 objectives on the Russia board, the opponent can't win then? (since there's only 6 objectives on the board)

I found those rules very confusing and ill written.

Other than that Iiked the changes.

What do you guys think?

The ease of cancelling wounds via shock rolls and command point spends are the biggest weakness of this game right now - that and the lack of interesting story modes. Its just too pathetic when you've executed a clever strategy to deliver a punishing attack on an opponent and they completely cancel it because of random dice rolling - too much chance, not enough reward for tactical planning.

I am quite sure that an obejctive can be solved at the same time by every faction participating in the fight. The opponent“s objetcives take a little bit longer than your own, though. Also, there are always 6 objectives on every board, not only in Novgorod if I am not mistaken...

I think that use a CP to shake a wound is a good method to extend the duration of game (it's a chance): the game lasts about 45 minutes (1h max) since Setup Roll , and character's setup needs of 1h approximately (to screen, choose and place map, characters and equipment packs).

I don't like a game where the setup lasts more than game, so I like the rule as it is.

Katsuyori said right, I think so too.

Right, missed the objective rules, thanks for that.
