Advice to Keepers - set fire to the lobby!

By ChiddlerNZ, in Mansions of Madness

The lobby is 3 spaces wide, which means no investigator can cross it in a single turn.

If its on fire, every investigator is forced to end their turn within the fire and takes 2 damage. Ok - so are monsters, but they are often forced to take fire dmaage as they don't move as fast as investigators.

So - if you can do it, burn that lobby!

Action: Run. There you go, three moves.

That said, break someone's leg. Moving more than 1 space per turn causes 1 damage. Staying in the fire causes 2.

I know how to run - but the lobby is 3 spaces wide, not 2. You can't start outside the lobby and run across it and get out in a single turn. The third move leaves you in the fire.

Its only 2 spaces North to South, but crossing East to West costs 2 turns

If I set the lobby on fire i'd be automatically branded as being too harsh for a Keeper and a 30 minutes discussion would be made with me and one of my friend...happened a couple times yesterday and I hate it...

Isn't it the role of the Keeper to ultimately win...as is the Investigators?!!?!?

While I'm firmly positioned in the "It's a game, if you only play to win, you lose. Keeper should keep the game fun for everyone", I still believe your friends are just trying to make you extra soft. If they start crying about you setting a large room on fire, show them what's REALLY cruel. Something like a Shoggoth in turn 2 or something. Then ask if they'd rather have a burning room again... before stomping them into the ground.

Re: Foyer is three spaces wide
Yeah, totally my bad. I remembered breaking someones leg but forgot the "and panicking him into the burning Foyer, so he just had to double-move to get out" part. Only remembered that somehow he got away and did not burn to death ^^°
