Newbie/seasoned question about Stark killing location and card ownership

By viktorvektor, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Hello

Here is my problem:

- There is T 101 card Poisoned Wine "Attached character gets -2 STR; Any phase: Kneel 1 influence to move Poisoned Wine to another eligible character"

If I play Targaryen and I attach this card to any character controled by other player (lets say Stark) who become owner of this card? I`m still owner and I can run "any phase" even if this card is not on my character or Stark can now run this "any phase" and he become owner of this card becouse is on his/her character?

Folowing way there is another card:

- F31 Bear Island House Stark only.Dominance: Kneel Bear Island to choose and kill a non-(STARK) character without attachments. Use this ability only if every card you control has the (STARK) affiliation

if I attach Poisoned wine to any Stark character can he now use Bear Island? If NO that will means that he control poisoned wine. And folowing way this means that he kan use poisoned wine "any phase" ability. But if Yes that wil means that he not control poisoned wine and can use it. But folowing way I see not posible way to block this bear island becouse there is really lack of location removers or clear location text cards.

Please help

Attachments are completely separate cards from the things they are attached to. They stand and kneel separately, control is determined separately, etc.

There are more specific location removal cards in other sets. But your best bet for blocking Bear Island is to put attachments on the characters you do not want them to kill (since it can only kill characters that do not have attachments on them). So, for example, move Poison Wine to the character you want to be sure your Stark opponent cannot kill at the end of the Challenges phase. Then, before the next Challenge phase, move it back the character of his that you want to weaken.

Hello

This explain me a lot. I build now deck with lots of characters but not so much atachements this way I need other way to block Bear Iland. I diged over card list but can`t found anything really good and instantly working (event will be best). There is only one perfect card but is stark only. Is this Froxen sword (or similar) with can be attached to location and thread it text blank. I have second deck martel and start sucesfully block my star fall location this way giving to hell my all super house dayne gold system

Of you can just ban Bear Island form your friendly play sessions, as I have. That card is massively unbalancing. I refuse to play against it. It should be removed from the game, in my opinion, or at least rewritten so that it must be discarded to kill a character, instead of knelt.

Far from it. While I'm certain that Bear Island may cause issues in your play group, which has its own distinct characteristics (i.e. experience, skill, card pool selection, etc.), Bear Island is perfectly fine for competitive play; in fact, players trying to run it will often be putting themselves at a disadvantage due to its limitations and restrictions. In other words - competitively speaking - it's not *that* powerful of a card.

I often recommend and even highly encourage the "banning" of cards for local, casual play (my own local meta does it to accomodate different levels of gameplay and experience), but cards only get officially banned/restricted/errata* if they unbalance official competitive play -- Bear Island doesn't.

*Cards are sometimes errata to accommodate misprints or amend text for the purposes of being consistent with rules/intent (i.e. Alannys Greyjoy)

Well, let me rephrase that comment. Because we only have a fairly small collection of cards, Bear Island is extremely powerful and not much fun to play against, especially in multiple.

I am pretty far from competitive play.

Especially in multiplayer, consider running the Honor Guards... and giving the Stark player control of a character from another house. You generally have to avoid making a MIL challenge at them, but often times this is worth it to keep the location neutralized.

Favorable Ground is really nice option. Thank You for this sugestion.

Bear Island is unique so unless you are playing melee against multiple Stark players the extras will just make it harder to destroy.
