Air event discussion

By Smazzurco, in UFS General Discussion

So what do you guys think will be the big deck/cards of the air event? Felicia spike decks? Alba control? You think everyone will run Shooting Cap or will there be too much fear of Cat's reflexes?

lol, since i seem to check a spike first cc of every game, i might run BB Akuma, LOL

discuss

I think Chun Li will be kicking faces I had a build that one my players used that got second .

Well for a start hanzo will just **** everyone with the kick loop.

And Alba will just be hard control with Arrogance locking them and powerfulling their face for +2 damage gran_risa.gif Don't forget the attak side, Alba palyers.

Lastly

Feline spike may not neccessarily be everywhere. Think of the 1 check

i would think everyone opposite hanzo would just mulligan if no mid block in there hand...

Without the evil support hanzo loop is too frail

Im not going for the usual Alba Arrogance Control as there is no life gain other than Powerful Style and then having that you have to attack them, you might aswell play an aggro deck.

Im going for a Sagat Control deck with a few little combos of my own hopefully leading me to victory in the air patch..

I was tempted to go Sagat Aggro with remy support but I gone for control using a resource that isnt majorly for control..

Hanzo loop decks suck it to Keep your Cool which I am running..

Ikari Warrior will see 4x in every deck.

Hanzokick, Olexa, Chun-Li, Felicia and Tira (Vimana), will all be big. Just think any character that can abuse Feline Spike or Ira-Spinta to it's fullest. Maybe someone will play the new Nightmare Geese gran_risa.gif

Fixed for clarity.

edit: To add to the topic, Remy will probably show up. Considering that he can commit two foundations (and Ira-Spinta the rest into momentum) I think he's going to have plenty of fun.

Oh, and Supreme Rising Rage Flash or whatever.

?Use either Air Chester mill with Power of the :Light, or use Chun Li. That's Step 1

Bust Faces. That's Step 2

????. That's Step 3

Profit. That's Step 4.

Seriously, the chester deck is cheap (money wise) and probably better than about 95% of the decks mentioned here, save for Chunners, who could probably kill him before he has enough pieces out. Spike dies to Chester horribly.

i dont know about you guys but i have not seen an answer 2 air adon running jaguar thousand....im pretty sure ive made up my mind and am running that for our air tourney

I daresay Tiger Style is an answer to THAT.

HDC - Yeah, I've been debating Chester for a whiel now. I'd have played promo Q-Bee, actually, if I had the cards for it. Good God can she mill people very quickly. Chester, new Geese, and Olexa are my top contenders at the moment. I was originally going to play a ::Taki:: loop deck (Club Cruncher + Questionable Motives), but one of our players we weren't expecting is coming, and he likes to run Air Base...

But yeah, i did mean frail...but it fails because it is so frail. BTW i know a lot on here aren't english first language so just incase frail = weak, brittle, snaps under pressure, etc

And my deck won't be running ikari

I really wanted to run Soiree for this, but the amount of people I already know are running A Cats Reflexes, Greed's Influence and Hwang's Protection means that I just can't. My advice to everyone is to try to avoid playing Soiree's support unless you can find a way around those cards that is reliable.

Also unless Feline Spike is banned for your event, as it is in the one I'm attending, actively find a way to stop it, otherwise you WILL be killed by it. I'm trying to run Galactica Phantom as effectively as possible, but I am unsure of the character. I'm currently experimenting with Raphael, but Ralf, Talim and even Geese have caught my eye.

i am not atending the air event, but if i where i would run felicia4, taki7, or arogance alba. i would say air is one of the best (and only) agro symbols in the game so i think anyone who can't kill turn 2 or 3 (other than alba) will fail miserably.

@Smazz: Using fail as an adjective like that is an Internet idiom, pay him no mind ;)

Twelve's binary foundations rock, I killed two people with Feline Spikes in my sorta-budget-ish Sagat deck :D [Chain Throw is dropping, Criminal Uppercut bottomed out long ago, Bust a Cap is probably a little ways up there...]

I wouldn't not-run Soiree's junk even if the meta is probably going to be full of Wangs, Cat's Reflexes and Greed'ses, because you force them to drop an answer and not sideboard it out [while you CAN board yours out game 2, if you want] or use it for its other ability.

JAGUAR... THOUSAAAAAAAAAAAAND!

With (Knights who say) Ni Gatling.

With like Sacred Temple.

For a T2-3 one shot kill.

I curbstomped the field with Yun-Seong. Good old curbstomp. Mmm.

Plethora of high blocks + Yun-Seong's R: was my answer to Spike. Or just taking it, since Y-S can do so, just barely. Did that once, against Chun-Li. I then curbstomped him for game. :] Thanks for the momentum, letting me Whereabouts 3 times off my 1 attack..

and yeah, I ran Hwang's. I got one out, my opponent hesitated to ready stuff. I got two out and a couple Chestzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz and my opponent didn't ready a darn thing from there on out.

edit: and yes, the +2 speed from Hwang's won me two games

edit edit: and yes, the attack side of Tiger Style won me a game, too

Oh, just to suggest to anyone who hasn't had their air event yet?

Don't Play T. Hawk.

I piloted him to pretty epic failure, and T. Hawk didn't work out quite the way I wanted him to... It's just way too hard to add Hawk tokens to yourself, and sitting with 2 or 3 Thunder Claps in hand and no tokens on your character is a very very sad thing...

I think narciisstic will be a sleeper hit.

it's very effective Air damage reduction.

huh? last i looked chun li was a girl.

Maybe the player was male, Trane?

Anyways, I'm rocking Adon4 for the Air Patch events, as he's helluva fun to play and takes people (that haven't looked at his E properly) by surprise. The only answer to Adon is merely commit his check-boosters with Chinese Boxing before he hits you hard with that JAGUAR THOUSAAAAND!!! If he makes it past turn 3, he'll likely be hitting you with it soon, so the best to do is prepare and/or out-aggro him since he's only got 19 vitality.

At the Air Patch in Swindon, I made a last minute effort to kill off responses like Tira's Contract (my hated card at the moment), but sadly it was an EPIC FAIL due to the number of R's I was already playing (>_<). The Colchester Air Patch this Friday is Block 3, so I won't be running Knee Toss or Brethren of the Coast (aww).

I tend to lend out decks for these events so I had 2 decks built. One of them was Adon, the 7/22 R commit who I actually merged into ::Adon::

Challenge the Master into Jaguar Super Attack of much doom, when it's like 21speed for 28 damage is good times.

The other deck that I took for a Spin <actually piloted in the event> was Wes Victory, Utilizing US Air Base. Played a game against the Rare Yun-Seong, and had him sitting there with 0 Foundations, 0 Momentum, and doing bad things to him with Moonbeam Slicer.

All in all... everyone at my venue seemed to love the Air event.

Must Admit - Wes + Engineered + A Cat's Reflexes + a bunch of other toys that I could put away when I was done with them was awesome.

Oh - and Billiard Player'ing US Airbase in at the end of your Turn = Gold.

just finished the first air patch tourny.

1st- new Chun Li (with something like 150ish card deck)
2nd- sweaty guile
3rd- Andrew olexa
4th- mill chester
5th- self commital/draw taki

I'm going to be rocking Starter Yoshitora. It occured to me that his E ability is stupidly good when you've Lord of the Makai to fall back on. His commit E is also ridiculously great when you block with a card with a Breaker rating =D

I also plan on taking advantage of everyone ELSE's decks with the Twelve BINARY foundation (copies attacks), A Singing and Dancing Musical Sister, and Star Power.

And I'm only running 11 actual attacks. Wheeeeeeee!

Runners up for running were new Guile, SR Taki (Soul Arena; momentum recursion), and Chester. Chester is one of three potential candidates for Void patch, instead.

If I was able to participate in an Air Event, I'd be running either the Andrew Olexa deck I took to Desert Wars (sup?) or RALF.

Seriously, Ralf is so tech in the Air Event. Behemoth Vitality+Absurd Strength? Shut down Chester Mill? Shut down Feline Spike? Lol wut?

Our air patch came and went and yes, I ran T.Hawk... And it didn't do that badly. Course my T.Hawk was a little different. It ran zero attacks, and ran all of Twelve's copy control cards. It was soundly in principle, and managed to throw three or four of my opponant's Air Back Breakers at him in one turn, and then subsequently Spike him with his own Spike next turn. OH and I managed to hit him with Come to the Aid too! :D
