The Silence

By Brother-Captain Belfire, in Dark Heresy Gamemasters

Hello everyone brother Captain Belfire here. I have a adventure i am making for the next dark heresy game im doing tommarow. Here is what i so far.

The story is that the Acolytes Inquisitor(my actaul tech priest i made when i got the book to see how it works) has gone missing on the Ship that they are on. They also have some weapons missing such as the assasins deamon sword and his swords and the guardsmens heavy stubber and bullets. The psyker will find a 'null ring'(i based it off the table top gaems null rod) and it stops his powers from manifesting usentially making him a normal human. Now the rreason their items and inquisitor is gone is that the silnce(a custom alien race i based off of the xenos from Doctor Who) have taken them. They are trying to extract the deamon from the sword and blood thirster essence from the inquisitor(long story short when he was a acolyte he did something incredibly stupid(punching a blood thirster and succesfully ripping out its hear) and had its essence in his hand and he has a lot of metal bands, with alot of seals and warding symbols, on his arm too prevent it from spreading) The acolytes will hear chanting coming from a near by room on the ship and they will find the crew(esencially D&D kobolds) dancing around in a circle chanting "the silence will fall" Repediatly. They then will aporach a seer(a psykic kobold with divination) and he will answer questions. They will then leave and meet and find the rouge trader,Leokull Wyvernjack(assasin class npc) and Shadak (a squat inquisitor) who will help them find their inquisitor

Nice; And are the Silence onbaord the PC's ship or in another ship/dimension?

Love the Inquisitor's 'problem ' well; original and quite a change of pace for the regualr deamon posessed angle that's a bit too 'classical'

Also, just a note; putting Xenos as 'allies' may be risky, as the typical Imperium citizens fear/hates/loathes the alien...pititng them against a few Kobolds might make them trigger happy; sure there's twice thier numbers, but they got guns, and it's only Kobolds.

Other than that it seems like quite the action filled race against the clock.

Yes the silence are on the ship. The kobold crew are not allies to the inquisitor but 'legal' *cough*forged*cough* papers allowing htem on the ship and no one takes them as a threat. Plus any normal passangers would kick them because they are weak. But i have more. As the acolytes are talking to Leokull and Shadak a hooded figure appraches them revealing to be a 'human' Belvin Dusk, but as the mission progress they learn tht belvan is half human and half eldar(no one ever said it was not possible for a half elf like creautre) and a Silence taht can lead them to the other ones but if they act hostile towards it/him it will refuse to help them

Your game has some very odd bits in it but if it works for you and your players more power to you!

For the half eldar there is a precidence if you go far enough back, it doesn't fit with the current lore that well (at all really given the rampant xenophobia) but the background once mentioned a half eldar... ultramarine. This was still very early days so though that wouldn't fly very well and we haven't seen references since, a half human half eldar child could happen. Question is being a tech priest did this offspring occur naturally?

I'd always find the idea of an Eldar with their arrogance looking at a human and finding it sexually attractive to be as weird as a human looking at a dog with the same looks... that said its a big universe and there might be some deranged deviant eldar out there somewhere. The human of course would have to be markedly unxenophobic, possibly a world not or only begining to be integrated into the Imperium.

The other possibility is that he was created by a heretek genetor as an experiment! Heretek most foul!

The Silence in doctor who are pretty scary to deal with, are you planning on trying to incorporate their unique powers? They would be utter terrifying if you had the extent of their influence as pervasive as in doctor during that period, Imperium shaking in relivance or are they isolated in their influence or just only making contact recently?

Is the null ring attached to the psyker and can he take it off?

This seems like it could be an interesting scenario to say the least... I just hope the words "Kobolds ate my baby" will not be uttered

The techpreist is not the half eldar but a figure watching them. I had him steal the tarot card in the mission in the core rulebook at the end of it. I did the mission with my players and they said taht they loved it. The psyker did get it taken off by a good silence(which i plan to call Regenold for so odd reason) But the half eldar will show up more and more giving them hints and aiding support. Why well thats a mistery
