I'm expecting the typical Asian faction with eastern mysticism and martial arts, based on the flavor text and figures that we have seen so far. For instance, the website mentions Onmyodo, which is a Japanese philosophy which includes the concept of the 5 elements and the balance of Ying and Yang.
It also sounds like the Japanese may be seeking the secret to immortality - the website states that Hirohito and Hatamoto are working to prolong the life of the failing Emperor and the Daimyo, a product of the Han'ei project, is said to have returned to battle even after he has been defeated. Han'ei itself means prosperity, which could reference "life" or maybe "luck".
For the items, I'm expecting some of the traditional weapons to be enhanced, either by magic or technology.

The Shin could have sort of smoke grenade and "Infrared-Vision" or something like that, together with a Katana and a pistol - and her armor, I think.
The Ashigaru... well, his rifle, a small hand-to-hand weapon, an ability to make his rifle deadlier, maybe something like supernatural strength or stamina, first-aid-kit.
Iroh: Katana, supernatural Strength and Stamina, some Grade to give his team temporary CPs and his armor.
Mizu: Sai, Shuriken, Happo-Fighting-Ability, Celerity, maybe some ability to make it harder for her opponents to hit her.
And all of them could have some trinkets to enhance them for a while (Amulett of Yin - like supernatural stamina, etc.).
