Lock on Target extended action

By Stevetassie, in Rogue Trader Rules Questions

Has anyone else noticed that, while Lock on Target is listed on Table 8-11 in the Core book (p217) and that same table is included on the GM screen, there doesn't seem to be a description of the actual mechanics behind it. All the table says is that a Scrutiny + Detection test grants a bonus to Ballistics Skill with one weapon component.

So, how big a bonus? Is it one lump number or do DoS increase it?

I'm guessing that it's either a flat +10 or it's like Aid the Machine Spirit and grants +5 and another +5/DoS.

Lock on Target: The character makes a Challenging Scrutiny+Detection Test to use the ship's augers and calculate exact firing solutions on an enemy vessel. If successful, he adds a +5 bonus to the BS Test to fire one Weapon Component during this turn. Every two additional degrees of success add an additional +5 to the same Test.

Thank you for pointing it out. I lost the header for the description as it was down a t the bottom of the page and indented due to the page layout.
