Raymond Plot wording question: "You were right, Ray!"

By XV8Crisis, in Android

I'm at my wit's end here. I even specifically registered to ask this question (yes i'm lazy, now help me out!).

If Raymond is given the Plot "Haunted by the Past" and develops it positively (i.e. into a happy development), it turns into "You were right, Ray!".

The problem is the wording of the ability to gain good baggage by using this card (under the yellow "Insight" area): I am VERY confused as to what it means!

The section states:

"Raymond gains one good baggage for each light card he draws on his turn after the first two"

"...after the first two. "

Holy moly, "the first two" of WHAT?! The first two light cards, or the first two turns?!

If we go by the light cards idea, then if he drew 3 light cards in his turn, he would get 1 good baggage, and 1 good baggage for each light card drawn after that on that turn.

If, on the other hand, we go with the turns idea, then Ray has to wait after his first two turns (after this card has surfaced, of course) before he gains a good baggage for each light card he draws.

I can see the logic in both ways of thinking, and i'm just left stumped! HELP!

We had also a discussion about that, eventually we played it, that Ray gets 1 good baggage for the third, fourth etc. light card he draws in one turn. So he has to use his special ability and then must eihter spend time or has to move to ritzy locations. In our game it worked well.

I fully second this. (If he got good baggage for every light card he gets on the 3rd and other turns, I hope there would be whole load of them, and similarily problem for others to make this plot end badly)

Hey guys - thanks for the replies. I eventually came to the same conclusion - that he starts getting good baggage on the 3rd turn and 1 additional baggage beyond that point, etc.

I think it's a balance, fits within the spirit of the rules, and work well. Plus not as annoying as having to remember "okay on the 3rd day I can start getting good baggage..."

Hopefully we'll hear from KevinW on this one soon, and it'll be included in the FAQ/Errata. On a plus note, i'm well impressed with how well the rules are written, understood, and work thus far! I've got the 2005 edition of Arkham Horror so.... well... i'm sure some of us can spot the difference at least.

Love Android though. Lurv ett.

Not sure if you didn´t misinterpreted yourself here, but our suggestions were that it is 3RD AND OTHER CARD YOU GET ON A TURN (even the first one and second) that bring you the good baggage.

Ah, see? There it is: a simple misuse of one word and the entire understanding of a concept is thrown off. My bad!

In essense: yes I agree with both of you. happy.gif

Thought so... just checking, if I got it right myself gui%C3%B1o.gif

Kevin answered this in some other thread where someone posted a very long list of questions. The light cards are referenced, not the turns.
