Exiting Map

For Victory Points and exiting units off of the map, it always costs the exiting unit 1 Movement Point to actually exit the unit off of the map, correct?

I would believe so even if it is not explicitly stated in the scenario rules. For example, in the FotB scenario, Battle for Phokorova, the Germans receive 1 VP for every tank that they are able to exit from the map. It does not state that it costs the unit 1 MP to move off of the map, however, I believe that it would cost the unit to actually exit the map.

That is how I play it. In the base game sceanrio Stavelot Express and intro sceanrio Chain of command the special rules state A vehicle on a blue shaded hex must spend 1 movement points to exit the board so this is how I play all scenarios that require movement off the board. Plus it seems logical as it costs 1 movement point to move a (clear) hex. Also some scenarios require units to move onto the map and to do this it costs to move from off map onto map.

That was my understanding of it as well, but wanted to get another opinion since my friend and I were divided on it.

"Also some scenarios require units to move onto the map".

The usual method of entry is for the units to be placed in the R hexes during the Status Phase at no movement cost.

What did your friend think happend TheKaiser33? Did they think that they just had to make it to the hex? Because if that was the case it would be like what beresford brings up that in most scenarios reinforments are placed on the board so if you did the reverse of this they would make it to the exit hex and then wouldnt beable to be taken off until the status phase as that is when reinforcement appear so I would argue that the same be done if taking units off. But this gets away from how I think it is played as the objective refers to exiting the board not taking off the board, exiting involves moving from the hex you are in which costs a movement point.

I think that was what he was thinking was that since the scenario didn't specifically state that you had to spend a movement point to exit the map that the unit just had to make it to the hex in order to exit. I was of the understanding that anytime you move a unit to another hex (ie exiting the map) it would cost 1 MP. We played where he had to spend the movement point to exit.
