New player, awesome game

By chaosapiant, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Played my first game of "Game of Thrones LCG" last night with the wife with our new core rule set. It took a while to get the hang of the rule, but in the end we loved it. I've never played magic the gathering or pokemon or any other collectible card game before, and it was really fun. I've been a fan of the books for about 2 years now though, and thought that the game did a great job of bringing the novels to life in a card game formula. I DO wish FFG would release a "mega complete" pack with all cards in it though. I'd pay $500 for that or more.

Anywho, just saying hello to all the card players out there.

Hello and welcome aboard. This game is great, I am sure you will both enjoy it. If you have not watched them already, the videos on the support page are great for learning the rules or even giving yourself a refresher.

Always good to seen new players. If you thought the core set was fun wait til you start buying packs and building your own decks, it takes it to a whole nother level.

Where do you live?

Chesapeake, Viginia. United States. On Earth.

Always good to see the community growing. Welcome to the game.

I don't think I've hit the $500 point yet, and I have quiet a size-able collection.

Good to see you enjoy the game! Hopefully you can find some local folks to play with!

On Earth.

Crap! I was really hoping we'd be in the same area until I read that last part. :P

Does that actually mean we're in the same area?

No, sadly. I'm in SW MO with Dobbler, Fotonurth and others. Sorry to get your hopes up, but when I laughed at your Earth comment, I couldn't help but respond in kind.

I just started playing recently as well. I was browsing the net looking for strategy card games. that's when i came across agot. I saw another site talking about r.r. martin and the books. there's dragons, direwolves with more of a medieval feel than most fantasy.I watched the tutorial on ffg and said " i got to have this game. shortly after hbo says there doing a thrones series. i'm excited. i start playing the game and it's better than i could have hoped for . rich in characters, amazing artwork. the best game ever made in my opinion.the boys at ffg have done an amazing job. pure genious. thank you r.r. martin and ffg. never planned on reading the books, then i was strolling through chapters and they had some books on sale, so i picked up the first three. they brought the game to life even more. i plan on collecting every pack. we have a group that's shares the expenses. It doesn't matter if it's 3 in the morning, if someone calls up " hey want to play some thrones?" , we're playing. i never turn down a game. totally addicted. why would anyone play wideo games?

Because Video games are fun in their own way too.

..and because The Witcher 2 just came out. It's the closest thing to A Game of Thrones in video game format.

Does it make me feel sad, or at least somewhat lamenting (lamentable? lamentational-y?) that I drove through Cheasapeake twice in the last two weeks? Going and coming to the Outer Banks? :( Sadly it was a journey of a 1000 miles to get that far, or I'd offer to come back that way and play some more.

Not sad at all! There's no way in hell I'd drive 1,000 anywhere, lol!
