Playsheets

By Sturn, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Brand new to AGOT card game. I usually play FFG boardgames, not much experience with ccg's. So, I made up a playmat and rules summary sheet before trying to teach and play with my wife and nephew. Critque needed, if someone sees something wrong please tell me so.

Those look pretty good, could definately be useful for new players.

First of all, I applaud you for going through the effort of creatings these to make the game more accessible for your friends.

There's a couple of inaccuracies in the cheat sheet.

Plots: First of all, I just want to make sure that you don't pick plots randomly by simply revealing the top card of a shuffled plot deck. Your words "choose/reveal" indicate you're doing it right, but "reshuffle" confused me. You definitely get to choose your plot from your plot deck.

Also, maybe you mean the right thing, but it's not paraphrased well in your summary. When you reveal the last plot card from your plot deck, all plots in your used plot pile go back to your plot deck. So you never really run out of plots.

Draw: You can draw a maximum of three cards (not five) through card effects, in addition to the two cards you draw in the draw phase as part of the game mechanics.

Crown Regent: Just clarifying that you cannot redirect a challenge so it goes against the attacker. You can redirect a challenge initiated by someone else against another player to go against yourself.

Supports: Can only support of original target has declared no defenders

Opposes: Claiming power for opposing a title is limited to once per round

Setup: Duplicates cannot be placed during setup.

Kneel: 1. it's not a keyword. 2. The statement that only standing cards can be used for actions is inaccurate.

Stealth: For each stealth character the attacker controls, the attacker may choose a character w/o stealth on the defending side. That character cannot be declared a defender. (Your description sounded as if you pick your stealth targets after the defending player has declared his defending characters)

Unique: Not a "keyword".

Very nice, will use these at demos.

Thanks Saturnine, this is exactly what I needed. I figured I would screw a few things up since I had not actually played the game yet. :)

Plots : I understood this, I'm not sure why I put the "reshuffle" in there, removed it.

Draw : Poor wording on my part, meant 5 total draw not 5 from effects. Changed wording.

Crown Regent : Understood this correctly, changed the wording to be less confusing.

Supports/Challenges : Thanks, changed the wording.

Setup : Removed "free dupes", thanks.

Keywords : I copied and pasted this from a file on Boardgamegeek and reduced the wording to make it fit. Kneel - I think I meant to say can't, "challenge". Stealth - Changed the wording. As for the title of Keywords, I guess I will change it to "Keywords and Important Terms". Added a Timing term with very basic definition.

Thanks again for the help, I uploaded a newer version.

Would a list of Core set card names also be crucial for new players? I noticed effects such as, "Name a Plot Card" and thought, "I can't name a single one". :) These such effects are useless for a brand new player until they have played a few rounds and begin memorizing the cards and names (unless I'm missing something). I can see some resentment in new players when they draw a card with such ability and realize it is worthless to them since they can't name any cards..yet.

If a new(ish) player plays with the Core Set Baratheon deck, you should have a printout of all the plots in the Core Set ready, so they can at least try to use Dragonstone Port properly. It's easy to do with this site:

Just set [All Expansions] to Core Set, set [All Types] to Plot, click SEARCH and print the result. It's what I did.

Thanks Ratatoskr, I'll make a list of the plot cards.
