Activation tokens and other questions

1. Can I move units through a hex containing one of my activation tokens? I know I can't move units out of a hex with the token but can I attack a hex with Mobilize and then say use Conquer to attack another hex if the only way to that hex is to move units through the hex with my Activation Token in it?

2. Where does it say that I can have more than 8 units in a hex if I'm attacking? I have only seen in the rule book that if you ever have more than 8 units in a hex to destroy units down to 8.

I found the answer to question one in the FAQ.

1) Yes, you may move units through an area with your activation token. (as you found in the FAQ)

2) Page 18 has this, actually right underneath the paragraph you found about destroying the excess. It says that "the only time you can exceed this number is when (you are) starting a battle". Any excess units AFTER the battle must retreat, but note they must retreat to a SINGLE area, and if there are any friendly areas adjacent, they must retreat there; after the retreat, if an area STILL exceeds 8, then you destroy them.

(For what it's worth, this friendly area thing is important; if you have only one friendly area adjacent, and it has 8 units already, you must still retreat there, which means you're going to have to lose units. The ONLY time you can retreat to an empty area is if there are NO friendly areas adjacent.)
