I just want to make sure I'm reading this correctly. This effect would only apply to cards currently participating in the challenge, any cards which became participants in the challenge after Field of Fire was played would not be affected, correct?
Only characters that are chosen when the event is played are subject to its effect, no? What makes you think it might be otherwise?
I would think so, as you cannot "choose" a card that is not in play.

When I first glanced at the card I read it wrong. Then when I just re-read it when building a deck for my groups melee game tonight I realized my mistake but I wanted to be sure.
