Vanilla Descent: OL Cards Per Turn

By snakeeyes2, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

I'm confused about how many card the OL gets per turn in plain 'ol vanilla Descent. I've heard 2 and 3. I just bought Descent and it says 2. I checked the FF FAQ and it doesn't say anything about 3. But I've read that WoD increased it to 3 per turn. I'd think that would have made the FAQ or the latest printing of my Descent rules.

So is it 2 or 3?

BTW, what's the common term for original Descent around these parts? Vanilla descent or Descent: JitD or something else?

Played two games of Descent as player and I loved it so much I bought the original + RtL. I've OL'ed a game for my wife (she really liked the game) and now I'm OL'ing a game on Sunday for four friends. Hoping to peak their interest enough for a campaign of RtL (after one more game for them to get comfortable with the rules). I'm hoping they dig it as much as I have and we can get a weekly game going on.

2 cards.

Only the "Evil Genius" increases it to 3 cards/turn.

2 Cards. You must be mistaken about WoD. It doesnt increase it to 3 by default.

Term: Exactly what you mentioned ;)

The confusion possibly arises from the fact that the overlord begins the game with 3 cards. However, he only draws 2 cards per turn, unless a card (such as Evil Genius) or special rule of the quest allows him to draw more.

Thanks everyone.
