Pocket Necronomicon

By GM Tuck, in CoC General Discussion

Hello everyone,

I am brand new to the forums, and I hope what I have to say will be appropriate here. I checked the terms and conditions of the site and I think I should be ok, as the thing I am bringing to the table is not of a commercial nature, but is rather a nonprofit deal. With that said, if the Mods deem it inappropriate, so be it. I don't want to cause any problems.

I play the CoC card game quite a bit with my girlfriend and I also dabble in sculpture (a lot of it with a horror/ lovecraft bend). A few weeks ago I made a pocket sized necronomicon sculpture and I noticed that it worked pretty well as a domain cover. So, I bought some resin and silicone and am casting them up for our home game.

This got me to thinking about something: Both my GF and I work in video and we are volunteering our time this summer/ fall to help a friend who started a nonprofit called Yellow House Children's services. We will be doing an informational 5-10 minute piece that is designed to get the word out about his organization. It'll be available on their website as well as given away on a DVD in their info packets. Yellow House provides instruction, outreach, and rehabilitation for children with disabilities of all kinds in Kenya. This is a very underserved group of people in this country and the need for the work they are doing is great. You can find out more about the great work they are doing at: http://www.yellowhousechildrens.org/ Right now, we are working on various fundraisers to fund the trip over and rental of the production gear. We're looking at any outlets we can right now and I thought that I could, perhaps, share my mini necronomicon sculptures with the CoC LCG community and help raise money for this production as well. If anyone is interested, please let me know. Here are a few pictures of the sculpt:

I suppose I should've put contact information. Oops! Anyway, if you're interested, message me at [email protected] . Thanks again.

Just thought I'd show you guys the finished product. Yes, they do come painted. I have a few local folks who are getting some from me and I thought I'd show you all what a complete set looks like. I'll try to get some pics up on Sunday of them in use after we have our regular game night.

That is kind of bad ass... can we see a picture of them used as domains? I'm curious what the size of them is in relation to the cards.

Absolutely. I was going to do this Sunday but I'll go ahead and set up everything tonight to get some example pics for you guys.

Take your time. I'm in no rush.

Well, we got the stuff out and were messing with decks anyway so it worked out. Here are the "in play" pics. I put the cthulhu statues on top of the necronomicons so you could see how they looked. I also took some pics of cards used as resources with and without sleeves. Hope this helps.

Awesome stuff. I like how books are used for this. I have some neat papercraft books made by a french fellow that are snazzy, but nearly as cool as these.

Oh wow, this is awesome! My sincere respect to whoever had this brilliant idea!
