Starting kit suggestions and tips for a beginner

By meatbag4, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hey all

I've just started with my first board game, Descent, and loving it!

I'm looking for experienced guys to give me suggestions on what i can get to sort my tokens, look after your cards and boards and any other good tips.

If there is already a post or guide please point me in the right direction.

Thanks!

I use a tackle-box; I think that's pretty common. Very useful. FFG sleeves are pretty good, and thankfully not too expensive, although they can be difficult to find.

Thanks pw

Thats tru I'm struggling to find sleeves. Are the FFS sleeves the same size as MTG sleeve covers?

Not quite, but the difference isn't large enough to matter.

FFG sleeves are more card fitting while generic/M:tG sleeves are a bit larger than the cards and a bit more floppy.

As for the original question...

Personally I'd advise getting rid of all box inserts, though I did keep the insert from the main Descent box, cut it up into three parts (basically removed the middle ridge) and flipped the two remaining parts over. This way I got a box with three sections, one of which perfectly houses ALL the Descent cards (from all expansions, after sleeving) and the other two I now use for large monsters.

Thanks. I removed that middle bridge and I'm using the 2 boxes for monsters and my tackle box. happy.gif
