Role of Grim Reapers

By Fast Co., in Dust Tactics

I'm looking for thoughts on the Grim reapers, or even hard facts. Apologies if this has already been covered here, I couldn't find it if that's the case.

From glancing at their picture on the box they seem to have jump packs on, maybe a Fast unit with a jump ability? Small wings are visible. And some sort of rotary canon on the right arm, with the left hand seeming larger and fingered, perhaps a close combat weapon of sorts? Aside from these observations, I'm guessing they are infantry with a 3 armour.

The point of this query is that I detest the figures, so I'm going to proxy some at-43 suits which I already have in my possession, and I want to get started on converting the offhands and maybe slapping on some thrusters on their backs.

Has anyone seen the card for these troops yet?

From a Dust news bulletin:

While Ozz 117’s real name is unknown, he is one of the most active agents for the Allied forces. Equipped with the new Heavy Ranger armor, he is dangerously strong on the battlefield. Combining his Rocket Punch skill with his new Heroic Attack ability could change the course of battle in an instant. Also possessing the Jump skill, Ozz 117 is ready to handle the new building terrain. Ozz 117 believes the future of warfare will be based on his new armor; test him out and see if you agree

The unit is described as:

Named for the death their touch promises, the Allied Grim Reapers attack from above. With the Jump ability and a movement of two, the Grim Reapers can deploy and sweep across the battlefield to reach and destroy any Axis infantry and walkers. Players can also use their lightning speed together with Jump to fly over buildings, an advantage their Axis enemies have yet to access.

So you have a M2 A3 jumping unit with MG's and a punch that can take down vehicles all led by a hero with a flame thrower and ability that enhances attacks - jees. I think the only info we have lacking is the numbers in the squad and their cost. - it had better be a couple of models or a lot of points!

The Grim Reapers are also equipped with dangerous weaponry: Victory MG duals and Rocket Punches. Use the Victory MG duals to deal damage from afar then fly in close and use their turbo-charged fists to K.O. the enemy.

i think they will be smaller units of say 3 .

i am looking forward to them , their power armor will make nice scrap , and i need genetic material for "The Farm" .

I want to kidnap one of these units for my Axis troops :)

the box art and the blurb have them as a unit of 3. not fast, but 2 move points (so 4 on a move + move). they can jump over impassable terrain, and i thought the blurb had them as having dual victory mg's, but i only see one, which would be 9 machine gun shots against type 2 infantry.

Yep the picture on the box is 3 figures. I was hoping for more lighter armed jump troops, like the ones in the Dust website, but I'll buy these.

thanks for the responses, I'll use my proxies, but throw me into that minority group of people who, for some reason, like the idea of augmented gorillas more than powered armour.

welllllll , ya gotta read the rules book REEEEEEEEEEEAL carefuly .

we will see the lighter jump infantry later on , probablt at the same time we see the airplane rules .

the reason i say this is that on page 4 , right hand side , second box (where it describes the armor types/values ) for AIRPLANE armor 1"this catagory represents helicopters and other airborn troops "

troops is a specific term that only applies to infantry . so unless its a typo , i would presume the new power armor infantry is being done so because they have power armor which makes them harder to kill , and because their rocket jump ability is more limited to a short move as opposed to what ever they have planned for airplanes .

I can't get a got look at the box on this site can anyone post a Pic Thanx

Nah, I'll pass on these, I like the incursion power armor alot better. My inner nerd feels happy at the thought of a squad of huge gorillas tearing up the place though:)

You can find it by going to the Fantasy Flight Collector Dust catalog.

what is the thing on the apes back suppose to be?

In the comic it looks like a couple of 50cc moped engines, to power its gloves I suppose.

They do have the dual Victory MG's but perhaps instead of that meaning you have two guns maybe it will allow you to reroll anymissed shots like a twin linked 40k weapon

Nah, it's probably like the Ludwig has dual 88 cannons. So it's the same as the normal MG but with an extra dice of damage.

Correction: Same as normal MG but with an extra TWO dice of damage.
