Torpedo limitations

By Alasseo, in Rogue Trader Rules Questions

Had a weird thought while building ships for a new campaign- are there any limitations on the number of Torpedo Bay components you can moun t on a ship?

I mean, aside from Space and Power, the only limitation I could see was that they must be mounted in a Prow or Keel slot, and while AFAIK there are no ships currently that have both, there are ships with multiple Prow slots (Endeavour, I'm looking at you...), and there could be more to come.

Does this mean that I could load up an additional torpedo bay on an Endeavour (on top of the Voss already built in) and launch spreads of 8, or is this some wild fever dream?

I don't see why not. Rules as written, there is no reason you couldn't turn an Endeavour into a torpedo boat. I'd hate to see your RT's bill for torpedoes, though.

There aren't any rules that would prevent you from having two torpedo launchers. However there are no provisions for combining salvos from different launchers. As such it would be resolved as two separate attacks.

That makes them more likely to hit, since you wouldn't need seven successes. However it gives the turrets more chances to shoot them down.
