1. damage counters persist in the card and kill it at the end of the turn

As the dryad is no longer a unit, it cannot have damage tokens on it, so they are moved out. When the dryad becomes a unit again, it comes fresh as new.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but does this removal of damage qualify as "healing" or is it that only cards that specifically state "heal" count as healing. I was just curious if this interaction in the game state would trigger effects like that on The Glittering Tower and the like.

Its not a heal, the tokens are just removed. Additionally, similar to the way a development can't have damage tokens, it also can't be healed.
