I am new to Arkham Horror, and I've got just about all the expansions except for Dunwich Horror, Curse of the Dark Pharoah and The King in Yellow. Besides CotDP, are the other two expansions going to be revised? If not, where could I find them besides Amazon? I found TKiY expansion for almost doubled the regular price, but couldn't find DH. I would really like to complete all the expansions for I think it's one of the best, if not the best, board games I've ever invested into, besides Tannhauser.
If "Curse of the Dark Pharoah" being revised, what about "The King in Yellow"?
I have not read or heard of any intention for FFG to revise either of those 2 expansions. I don't think there is any need to, except for the different printing colors in DH. The reason they are revising CotDP is because it's current state doesn't fit or play well with the rest of the expansions. Other than implementing house rules such as "you can buy exhibit items for $6 each at the library" you kinda have to pick to play with either the base game + CotDP or the base game + every other expansion. The revised version of CotDP will allow us to incorporate it into standard gameplay and include it with the other expansions. I don't think FFG was able to predict the popularity this game would have when they first released it and thus didn't expect to be making so many expansions. CotDP was the first expansion, and with their limited scope at the time, it seems they didn't expect to be taking the game to so many different levels. But they did, and every subsequent expansion seemed to overlook certain CotDP mechanics. So CotDP will be revised to fit better, while all the other expansions already fit together just fine. (Except for that darned purple dot on DH's Lost Carcosa and all the cards that seem to be made of different material).
CotDP also has some anomalies, such as time-consuming Mythos cards that tell you to search the Monster cup for Maniacs and Ghosts, weheras other cards tell you to look up the statistics for Zombie or the abilities of other Investigators. These are likely to be streamlined, if they are not dropped altogether.
The Barred From Neighbourhood cards (which never really worked that well) are being dropped in favour of cop cars. It seems likely that the 18 cards devoted to being Barred from a neighbourhood will be reused for the Whispers cards, whereby players can purchase Exhibit items. Followign this line of thought, it is probably that the Miskatonic Horror is likely to build on this mechanism, adding new Whispers related to Kingsport, Innsmouth and Dunwich.
The format of other small box expansions is Herald, bonus tokens (cops cars in this case), plus new cards which suit that expansion's theme. The new version will include a Dark Pharaoh Herald and tokens (police cars) in order to match up with the other sets.
The other expansions are likely getting some streamline treatment in the upcoming Miskatonic Horror expansion, though likely not to the extent that CotDP is getting in it's rewrite.
Thanks for answering my question, hopefully. I'm just starting so I don't have DH but I'm waiting for the reprint and I found TKiY on Amazon, so I ordered it. I use to play the Chaosium RPG version of Call of Chtulhu, but there was so much stuff for it that it was difficult to find.
The board game versions make it much more simple and enjoyable.

I was wondering about the.Barred from the Neighborhood cards This makes me even happier, as I will now be able to incorporate both versions of COTDP with my game.
limiter, have you played old CotDP? The Neighborhood cards were borderline useless before any other expansions came out and eliminated them with a quickly rising terror track.
If you're combining both versions for the sake of having both patrol and barred cards, then I wish you luck. But if you haven't seen barred cards in action, then I beg you to reconsider...
Tibs,
I have to tell you that I agree with Limiter3118 on this one. Unless there's some reason which will break the game in some way, I plan on combining both CotDP sets into future games.
I was playing devil's advocate. There are a lot of players who hate the barred cards (jgt is one staunch opponent).
To be honest I may do that myself. But I know what I'm getting into and I certainly don't want to dilute the new, cool stuff.
you realize that by mentioning jgt, he's been summoned...
Only if we say "jgt" a third time.
...
Oh, crap.
I mostly play "all in" so adding the extra set won't be much of a problem - everything is pretty diluted already. I'll add in the spells that are worth it (we play a pruned spell deck: 1 of everything then extra copies of the combat / healing / find gate spells), look through the exhibit items and add in all the ones that aren't unique, then decide which of the uniques I like better and use that. I'll do likewise for the Mythos deck. I'll probably just keep the location cards, though I'll have to suss out what to do with the duplicate Gate cards, the Allies stay but the benefits and detriments stay in - I very much doubt that two players will end up with Visions anyway.
