Axis Gorillas

By traderghost, in Dust Tactics

Hey, what's with the gorillas in a DT game? I am an Axis player and am hoping for more interesting mechs and *human* infantry to be added but I didn't expect animals to be thrown into the fray. The Allies got the Grim Reapers and we got Gorillas? Having said that, I will still buy a unit of these **** animals when they are released :) Axis Gorillas look like close combat specialists. Hmm..... it can certainly fit into one of my style of tactical play, if it has a good armor value. Anyone has any idea of their stats? Would love to proxy them in my game until they come out.

keep in mind the game is still kinda young , so there will be more infantry .

the stat cards for the heros are floating around here somewhere in a thread i think , and while we dont know what their abilities mean yet since those special abilities will be in the next expansion , we do know that the gorillas and american power armor troops are armor 3 .

while you could proxy the heros , proxying the non heros would be kinda pointless since the heros generally have better stats than the regular troops .

Not to mention the Nazi zombies................. ;)

We've got gorrilla's because they are in the comic so are cannon to the Dust world, should be zombies next. I am now getting moans from the allies players now though as the axis get all the cool and interesting stuff. Any idea's what special units the allies could get, they do seem to be stuck with just your walkers and grunts.

I really would like to see some Sino-Soviets and other factions before SS Gorillas and Nazi Zombies.

Not saying I am not looking forward to kicking some U.S. BBQ butt with some German Rise of the Planet of the Apes squads.

This is precisely what my Allies buddy feels. She went ape over the Axis Gorillas when she saw it being announced, while I look longingly at the Allies Grim Reapers. She finds it so cool to be able to field intelligent gorillas in the battlefield, and if I let her have her way, I suspect she will field an entire battalion of gorillas! Better not tell her of the Axis zombies else she will want to swap her Allies troops with my Axis army.

Yeah, I would also love to see some Sino-Soviet stuff too, especially Koshka! :)

I am almost hoping the release the Vrill and Sino-Soviets in a large starter army set, like they did the Allies and the Axis.

I want to see some Sino-Soviet vs. German bot battles!

Anyone know how many gorillas come in a unit box? I did not see a number when I read the description.

The picture on the box is 3.

I'm ok with gorillas instead of power armor. I like that the axis isn't going to do a mirror image of the grim reapers. I think it helps keep things interesting to take each faction in a different direction. (unlike the panzer killer/bot hunters Boss/Kommandotrupp etc)

Plus, an allied player can shout out thier best Charlton Heston "Get your hands off me you **** dirty ape!" whenever the gorillas dish out the pain. :)

Hey, good argument! Reminds me of the Magic CCG where the five different colors each has their own abilities and uniqueness and generally do not mirror each other. So now with Dust Tactics, I can mix and match my units (all from the same faction of course) to create awesome combos and to best fit the mission at hand, knowing that my opponents will also have their own unique units and fantastic combos that I have to deal with. So choosing the makeup of your force within the limit of the allowed AP is just as equally important as tactics itself. Hmm.... DT is getting more interesting by the day :) Bring on the zombies!

Hahahaha...... you crack me up! Makes me want to re-watch the old Planet of the Apes again :)

For those who are interested in how an Axis Gorilla looks like, here's one in action. Notice those massive enhanced arms. According to the description on FFG, those gorillas can destroy even walkers in close combat. These 'infantry' are certainly no pushover even when facing armor.

FFG needs to get this together them adding and removing articles is getting annoying. They removed the article but the units are still in the store.
