Virtual rpg table top

By PSAI76, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

Having Fantasy grounds and the Call of Cthulhu rules set, I can say its a great program. Would be tempting to use it as a combat tracker at the table.

Keep up the great work Gitzman and neilgfoster

Very great job from Neilgfoster and Gitzman.

I do prefer FG2 than Maptools.

Neil and a few guys from the Reckless Dice Podcast ran a session using the latest Fantasy Grounds II module over the weekend. Worked great! We will have the session available for download within the next 24 hours at http://www.RecklessDice.com

We played an adventure called: With a Little Help From My Friends.

Excellent work Neil,

Excellent! I've played WFRP 2nd Edition on FGII and loved it. I can't wait to get a hold of it of the adventure. BTW, I ran across the reckless dice podcast about a month ago and it's a great program. Keep up the great work.

I am in the final stages of developing the ruleset for Fantasy Grounds, my remaining jobs being to fix a few little bugs and write up a user guide. I hope to have this done in the next week or two at which point I will release this as version 1.

The latest version of Fantasy Grounds now allows unregistered versions (ie. Free) to create "demo campaigns". This basically means you can download FG and play around creating a campaign as if you were a GM with the full product - the restrictions are that other players cannot connect and your campaign is not saved. This is a great way to play around with FG and the ruleset before deciding to spend any money.

The fantasy grounds website is here: http://www.fantasygrounds.com

You can get the latest version of my ruleset from my site here: http://www.theforbiddentome.com

The live play session referenced earlier on the Reckelss Dice website is now available for download. It features Neil Foster GMing a game with myself and Lester crow from Reckless Dice. We sue the ruleset for Fantasy Groudns II that Neil has developed. Enjoy.

Ah, nevermind, got it.

Heya,

I downloaded the current version of the ruleset and it's absolutely amazing what you did with it.

One of our players moved to another country and he desperately wants to continue to play with us (even though he won't admit it) -- this will be perfect.

I couldn't figure out how to add action/talent/any cards - can someone help please? I'm using the demo version for now BTW.

Thanks for all the good work. Hope I will have time one day to contribute something back to the WFRP community for all the high quality and essential work it's doing.

Roy.

To add an action to a character go to the abilities tab of the character sheet. You will see an area which is titled 'Blessings' - this is where you can add blessing actions to your character. At the bottom of this area are some small radio buttons - clicking on these will cycle through all the different types of action cards: Belssing, Melee, Ranged, Social, Support, Spell. To actually add an action, right click on the area and select the 'Add New Item' option from the radial menu.

Hope that helps. I am writing up a user guide for the ruleset which will explain how to use the ruleset, plus how to create your own content.

Ok, Got it,

thanks!

Can't wait for the final version.

Roy.

Are you thinking of releasing a full library, whether paid or free? Or should we look into getting some XML editing going to fill in our own libraries? If the latter, I tried to edit in some stuff, but didn't really know what attributes to put in.

Either way, this is pretty fantastic, and I greatly look forward to using it!

No, I will not be releasing a full library with the ruleset. A library usually contains information taken from the rulebooks - this information is copyrighted and the property of FFG. The intention of this ruleset is not to replace the need to purchase the original material but to provide the tools to play online.

A GM will need to edit the library XML themselves in order to set-up the content that they have purchased. In the next release I will be providing a template library which includes examples of all the different types of content - this will show you all the different attributes that are available.

You can still easily run a game without a library - the library only helps maintain a quick reference to things that you may need during a session.

Yeah, I figured the whole copyright thing would make it impossible to offer for free, I just didn't know if maybe you'd set something up with FFG to sell it through SmiteWorks or something.

However the template sounds awesome! I game exclusively online these days, so I do need to set it up for a full library, but I'm more than willing to bust my own hump to get the information out there to my players. I mostly would just need to set up the wound cards, I think, since those are difficult to keep track of even if all players have their own copy of the game. But powers and careers and the like are easier to keep track of, so... yeah.

In any case, I greatly look forward to the final version. It's a lot of hard work, I imagine, but it looks awesome. :D
