I bought the first one below for approx $60. The one in the second link is closer to $70. Can anyone tell if there are any differences between the two? Both appear to be FFG versions but have different item numbers (FFGVA11 vs VA11)

There doesn't appear to be any difference between them. If I had to guess I'd say that the MSRP was hiked in between print runs, and Amazon correspondingly hiked the retail price on copies they had to purchase from the distributor at the higher price, to keep their profit margins the same.

But, since they're such nice people over there, they're continuing to sell their remaining overstock from the previous print run at the lower price because they originally bought those copies at a lower distributor price. What that amounts to is two entries for Descent on their product pages until such time as the old print run is sold out.

This practice isn't actually all that uncommon. I've lucked out on a few board games purchased at local shops for the same reason (I got Sands for Runebound at a decent price because I happened to grab the last copy of the old print run in the same situation.) In conclusion, good for you! You got it cheaper than you probably would've if you had waited a couple months.

Sweet! I think you're right because it says discontinued by manufacturer in the description. Does that mean the version I'm getting will have some errors on the cards that was c laterorrected in the reprinted version? Now I'm wondering if paying $10 more would be worth it now to correct those errors...

There have not been any further such errors, that I'm aware of anyway. I think it's highly unlikely that either of those versions are the original print run, I imagine that would have sold out quite a long time ago.

If you want to make absolutely sure, you can check your copy of the game against the FAQ on the website here, as it lists all of the errata at the front - if your copy already reflects what the errata says, then you're golden. On the off chance that you do get a super-old copy of the game, every single print run of Well of Darkness also included corrected cards for those errata that pertained to card text. It's a good expansion to have anyway, this would just be one more reason to grab it. =P
