A few quick easy questions

By Berf, in The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game

Hi!

I am considering bying this game and I have a few quick questions for you experienced players:

#1

I will be playing mainly solo. The game description says 30-90 minutes. I guess it depends on the scenario and your degree of rules understanding, but is the typical solo game closer to 30 or 90 minutes?

#2

Does the game require a big playing surface and is the set-up time long? For example, I really like playing space hulk : death angel. It requires a reasonnable playing surface and the set-up time before a game is minimal. Does this compare?

#3

Is this game another case of big box full of 90% air and 10% game components?!? Storgage space can be a problem!!

Thanks!

1) There are three quests in the Core Set. From my experience, they take about 30, 45, and 60 minutes with respect to difficulty. That's if you make it the whole way through though!

2) My play area is usually about 18x24 inches, but you could probably have it a little smaller. Basically the only set up time ishuffling the two decks.

3) This box is basically chock full, IMO. For me, I bought two Core Sets, and all the cards from both fit in the tray in the middle. I put my counters etc, under one half of the tray, and my extra sleeves under the other. Essentially, I'm saying that everything fits neatly into the 12x12 box.

Hope that helps!

hi,

1. as has been said depends on quest and how far through you get, but time goes pretty quick and it should with a good game

2. i play solo and once all the initial sorting of the cards/ shuffling is done its pretty quick to set up and i dont need to change where im sitting to reach the card areas

3. the box is pretty full, i mean theres a hell of a lot of cards in there, and plenty of tokens, also the two threat trackers

this is my first LCG and im not dissapointed

Thanks for your answers.

This game surely generates a lot of buzz!

Anything Lord of the Rings tends to do that.

That's a bit misleading.

The majority of the 60+ games I've been playing solo so far took about 5 minutes!

The second and especially the third scenario require a significant streak of luck right at the start of the game or it's over before it really started. Scenario 3 can be lost during setup: If the wrong hero ends up being the prisoner, you're doomed.

Anyway, once you memorized the rules, the game rarely takes longer than 30 minutes, no matter which scenario you use.
