When I complete a career and I move into a new one and the new doesn't have the same talent slots are the talents that I bought in the previous career useless?

What do you mean about the purchase of a Focus Talent?

Some careers have the special ability to use a focus in a reputation slot, or tactic in a focus slot (like the servant).

I dont know about the focus talent.

Its already been said, but the party card can offer a lot of options for unused Talents as well. Depending on the career, if you have more talents that slots, you also can spend a manuever to switch out active talents. Allowing you to "configure" your character for the situation if you will.
