Guides: does it really feel like an old-school p&p?

By egalor, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

I've bought the initial boxed edition of wfrp3, but our company didn't like it due to a lot of bits and the PC sheet, which are disposable after completing the career. The new dice pool mechanic seemed fine though, so I still want to give wfrp3 a spin, but in a more traditional rpg way (as intended in the Guides, I suppose). No doubt, many of you have already tried out Guides for the very same purpose.

Could you please describe your feelings: does it really feel like a traditional (I hope you understand) p&p experience?

What definitely feels misplaced?

Are character sheets still disposable after completing the career (in our wfrp1-2 games PC sheets live for decades, comprising a living history)?

Personally I felt the same after I bought the first WHFR3 box.

The dice system is veri interesting but to play an old-schol rpg you need to modify some rules.

You can run WFRP as "lite version" with the guides.

The mechanics are still the same so you need to keep track on stances, etc. though. The sheet is two-sided so I guess you could copy/print it without the second page (which has most of the career info).

I would recommend you to buy the guides as PDFs first (as they're much cheaper) as you only actually need the Players Guide (if you have the core box for GM already).

(As a side-note you can also check the progress on my more "old-school" character sheet in THIS thread.)
